"To Michael Colunga - Re: [relax, the calendar is A-OK]"

In response to http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/june2012/michaelc65-1.htm

Dear Michael,

Thank you for posting the interesting video about Pentecost, which I watched and very much enjoyed.

However Pastor Ray’s blessed sermon doesn’t address the calendar issue we’re discussing here (so I really didn’t think your post was a “response”)… Sometime in the middle of the sermon he even says that Pentecost is a feast that takes place at the end of the barley harvest.  This is not correct. Pentecost happens at the end of the barley AND wheat harvest, which is in summer, not in spring.

The Book of Ruth, that he himself mentions it’s read in Synagogues on Shavuot, provides the exact timing of the Bride presenting herself to the Redeemer:

“So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.” [Ruth 2:23]

Anyway I don’t want to discuss this issue anymore. I have provided several references for those who accept that the evidences for a summer Pentecost are robust, and that’s all I wanted to share. I don’t want to change anyone’s opinion.

Blessings,

Eliane B.
