"Gino got it by
reading the Book too (The Covenant of Dan 9)"
It is refreshing to see the
statement Gino made "It is wise to stick
with the book" and I agree with him that the covenant of Daniel
9 is the
Mosaic covenant.
o Much of Daniel 9
pertains to the Mosaic covenant starting
with verse 4. It is Daniel's prayer, confession and
supplications concerning
Israel departing, rebelling and transgressing the precepts and
judgments of
the Mosaic covenant and Jerusalem which lays desolate. Gabriel
shows up
while Daniel was yet praying (21) to give him comfort and an
answer to his
supplication (17 - 19).
Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people
(Israel) and upon
thy holy city (Jerusalem), to finish the transgression, and to
make an end
of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring
in
everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and
prophecy, and to
anoint the most Holy.
Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going
forth of the
commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah
the Prince
shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street
shall be
built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be
cut off, but
not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come
shall destroy
the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a
flood, and
unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant (Mosaic) with many
(Jews) for
one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the
sacrifice and the
oblation to cease, and for (because of) the overspreading of
abominations*
he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that
determined
shall be poured upon the desolate. Words in parentheses are
mine.
*The Antichrist would not confirm a covenant allowing the
Jews to sacrifice
and certainly would not overspread the desolation of his own
abomination.
Verse 26 refers only to two entities: the Messiah who was
cut off followed
by a colon and the people of the prince (not the prince). That
being said I
believe the Lord confirms the covenant. Remember the 70 Weeks
were and are
determined upon thy people (Israel) and upon the holy city
(Jerusalem) and
not the Gentiles. The final week (yet future) will still concern
Israel and
Jerusalem.
It is the MOSAIC COVENANT OF SACRIFICE at the temple of God.
This is
verified by the context of Daniel 9, which is the Mosaic
covenant, spoken
about which Israel has transgressed, but will be blessed under!
Israel is
"not under" the New Testament (2 Cor.3) or the New Covenant
(Heb.8, 10)
because Israel is not saved (Rom.10) as of yet! (Rom.11) The
Lord is going
to give Israel (as a nation) one more chance due to the prophecy
of 70 Weeks
within and under the Mosaic covenant of the law! The
nation of Israel will
seek the Lord under the Mosaic covenant and will "sacrifice" the
required
offering, making a covenant to follow the Lord. (Neh.8-10) They
will swear
an oath under curse to follow the Lord by his covenant just as
the nation
did down throughout time. They will receive a final blessing and
curse. In
the midst of the week, the Lord will come and smite the earth
with a curse
(Mal.4), along with Elijah and Moses (2 Peter 2, Matt.17,
Rev.11), and the
time of great tribulation will occur.
Once again the book says: Seventy weeks are determined upon thy
people
(Israel) and upon thy holy city (Jerusalem)
