The Bible tells us three times that there will be a blood red moon before the great and terrible / notable day of the Lord.
It tells us that in Joel 2: 30--32 and in Acts 2: 19, 20 and also in Rev. 6:12.

Everytime there are major eruptions from volcanoes, we great brilliant red sunrises and sunsets. And since that is the case, then when a series of many volcanic eruptions take place simultaneously , then the atmosphere would be so filled from the ash and smoke that even the moon would be seen as "blood" red.

It appears that many volcanic eruptions are already taking place this May and June:

These are just some of the volcanoes going off. Others have been active, and then resting for briefs periods of time, but yet are still considered to be in an active state, or condition.

It tells us in Isaiah 5:14 and Isaiah 14: 9  that "hell" hath enlarged herself and is moved.
Since the core of our earth is molten iron, sulphur dioxide and other chemicals, then perhaps all this displacement of matter into the air is enlarging hell, which can also be interpreted as sheol, or the place of the dead.
The blood-red moon will be a sign of the many judgements to come during the Great Tribulation. The sign will be there for many to repent and escape those judgements ...

" And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered ", Joel 2:32

The Apostle Peter spoke of the blood-red moon on Pentecost .... and June 12th is the day the Church celebrates Pentecost.
