Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
Notice that this verse does not say our reward will be based on the good works we have done, but we will be rewarded based on what our works shall be. Shall be is future tense, yet many bible teachers and pastor use this verse to encourage their students and members to do as many good works as possible so they will receive a bigger reward when they get to Heaven.
While I agree that Christians should always strive to do good works, the above verse does not say we will be rewarded based on our good works. The above verse implies to me that God has a hierarchy of jobs that he will assign to each of us during the millennium and afterwards. I have not read any scripture that defines the criteria God will use to determine who gets what job, have you?
