Steve,Yes, that is extremely evil, to take everything that way.The new future, may be the old way, only kings, lords and serfs.Maybe that is why it says:
I Timothy 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
Those elite kings and lords may successfully take away the accumulative wealth of half a millennium of middle class wealth.But, eventually they will regret it:
James 5:1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
Somehow, Jesus will cause another supernatural exception from the laws of physics and chemistry, and miraculously rust their gold.Also, those elite, and even any serfs that willfully reject Jesus and the gospel, have this to look forward to:
Revelation 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
They will also witness much of that wealth going up in smoke:
Revelation 18:11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
17a For in one hour so great riches is come to nought.
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
They temporarily get to take everything, but lose the most important thing:
Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
It doesn't end well:
Psalms 73:12 Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
Proverbs 11:4a Riches profit not in the day of wrath:
Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
Job 21:13 They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.
Luke 16:22b the rich man also died,
23a And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments,
