We cannot be sure just who is 'turned back'  in Ezekiel 38 but I remain convinced that it is the nation of the USA. If you really think about it - modern day Israel has never been free from their bondage to the USA. Israel exists again, inhabited by the Jewish people. Thank Almighty God for this miracle. But, Israel has been governed, bullied, coerced, by the various American governments, since it's miraculous inception. So, although the Jewish people are back in the Holy Land - it's much like the time of Herod's reign. Israel was under the heel of the Roman Empire. The Jewish people were allowed to keep their religious beliefs and traditions but they were always bound by the rules and restrictions of Rome.

 

The same applies today. The USA has always told Israel what and what not to do. Israel is in captivity to the most powerful nation on earth - just as she was in Roman times. Israel's leaders are chained by the demands and commands of the USA administrations. This is why your reasoning about Russia not being the nation of Gog, is perfectly reasonable. Yes- Russia indulged in a disgusting, cruel pogrom of the Jewish people, as did numerous other nations. Germany, Spain, Britain etc. But these nations kicked the Jewish people out of their countries - they never ruled Israel. Not like the Roman Empire did, when the Jewish people inhabited Israel. Not like the USA, who dictates to Israel at the present time. It has become clear just who the 'revived Roman Empire' is. It has become clear who 'Mystery Babylon' is.

 

The fact that the USA is now in decline - morally and financially - adds to the surety that we are living in the end times. Much like the cruel, megalithic empires of yesteryear, the last recourse of the USA rulers is to resort to war. Power and plundering is their desperate last gasp. Which is why the question is asked when Gog and the nations unite to attack Israel; "Have you come to plunder? To take spoils"? See 2nd link below.

 

America is clearly broke.  Debt ridden. The Asian nations hold a lot of financial power over the USA because of the bonds they hold. This is why there is this insane, illogical war on Russia - using Ukraine as a proxy. This is why a great deal of pandering to Iran and Qatar is happening. It's all about the money. The love of money is the root of all evil. It's the devil's main tool.

 

Let's not forget what Natan was shown in 2015. He was taken to heaven to receive prophecy, almost 9 years ago. Natan was shown that Gog is Obama and that Obama will take his entire army over to the east. Firstly to take on Russia - then he is turned around by hooks in his jaw, to attack Israel. Gog and all his hordes.
