Hello
John and Doves,
I've
often wondered why Shabbat (Sabbath) is on Saturday.
The Hebrew people were told to watch for the sliver of the
new moon. Then declare the new month. Counting
from Day 1 of the month - to seven should be a
Shabbat. Another seven should be another
Shabbat. Etc. This cycle should continue with
every new month/every New Moon Day.
It just
doesn't make any sense to use the God-given calendar with
the months marked by the New Moons and mix it with the
pagan Sunday - Saturday calendar. The Children of Israel
(under Moses) had one calendar - the one given to them by
God. Shabbats were counted out from the New Moon
Day. Every seven days was a Shabbat.
The
Feasts of the Lord involve new moons, full moons and
counts in between..they do not use Sunday -
Saturday. So why would the Shabbats be set to
Saturdays? The only Feast of the Lord of the
seven in Leviticus 23 affected by the "Shabbats" is
Shavuot/Feast of Weeks..the other 6 feasts are set with
the Moon. Also, the Feast of New Wine is affected by
the counting of the Shabbats. So we need to get the
placement of the Shabbats correct.
Shabbats
(Sabbaths), New Moons, and Festivals:
Over and
over in the Old Testament, three things are listed for
offerings and trumpet blowing: Sabbaths, New Moons
and appointed festivals of the Lord.
These
are very important - for God and for the people.
The Jewish people were required
to blow the trumpet on appointed feasts and New Moon
feasts. Numbers 10:10
"Blow the trumpet at the new
moon, at the full moon, on our feast day": Psalm
81:3
"..for making burnt offerings,
on the Sabbaths, at the New Moons, and at the appointed
festivals of the Lord our God": 2 Chronicles 2;4
"..the burnt offerings, grain
offerings, and drink offerings
((refers to the New Wine Feast) at the feasts, the new
moons, and the Sabbaths, all the appointed
feasts...": Ezekiel 47:17
"I will put an end to all her
celebrations: her feasts, New Moons and Sabbaths - all
her festivals." Hosea 2:11
"...for the regular grain
offerings and burnt offerings; for the offerings on the
Sabbaths, at the New Moon feasts and at the appointed
festivals, for the holy offerings, for sin offerings to
make atonement for Israel...": Nehemiah 10:33
The
Seventh Day:
In
Exodus 16:23, the seventh day was "to be a day of sabbath
rest, a holy sabbath to the Lord." This was when the
Lord was providing the manna for them each day - for six
days for the 40 years of wandering. On the
sixth day they were to collect enough manna for the
seventh day. No manna was provided from the Lord on
the seventh day.
As
for the New Moon:
"Tomorrow
is the new moon.." 1 Samuel 20:18
"...and
when the New Moon feast came.." 1 Samuel 20:24
"Tomorrow
is the new moon.." 1 Samuel 20:18
When
was the New Moon Feast?
"In
ancient Israel the first day of each month, i.e. the
day after the new moon was sighted, was a feast
day with ordinances similar to those of the sabbath..The
New Moon Day was observed throughout Old Testament Times
and in New Testament times as well, but it gradually
lost its importance and disappeared from Jewish life.

The new
moon celebration is Rosh Chodesh. - "the head of the
month" "The Jewish month begins when the new moon
first appears, a tiny sliver in the night sky.
"..the word "chodesh" comes from the root chadash, which
means 'new'. "Jewish months, pegged to the cycle of
the moon, have either 29 or 30 days."
'In
ancient times Rosh Chodesh was declared by the beit din
(Jewish court) only after two credible witnesses would
testify that they had seen the new moon. Since the
fourth century, however, it has been determined by a
preset calendar.

When
Was The Weekly Shabbat?
Today,
the Weekly Shabbat "is the Jewish day of rest and
celebration that begins on Friday before sunset and ends
on the following evening after nightfall....After G-d took
the Children of Israel out of Egypt in the year 2448, He
taught them about the Shabbat: working for six days
and resting on the seventh."
The
Children of Israel wandered in the desert for 40 years,
receiving nourishment from heaven - manna - on every day
except Shabbat. "But no one went hungry - extra
rations would fall on Friday, so that everyone would have
more than enough for the holy day."
So when
was the Weekly Shabbat before there was a Friday or a
Saturday? The days were just counted..day one, day
two....day seven.
On
the chabad.org calendar, the
Rosh Chodesh are labelled for each month - they do not use
the sighting of the new moon. So the Day 1 of that
month is off a day or two. Also, this calendar is a
Sunday through Shabbat/Saturday calendar...Shabbat is
always Saturday on this calendar.
The
Children of Israel (under Moses) didn't have a Sunday
through Shabbat/Saturday calendar to overlay on their New
Moon-months...so they counted from Day One of the new
month to Day Seven - that day was Shabbat. Why look
for and declare the Rosh Chodesh and not use it to find
the Shabbat? This would result in two calendars
being used - the New Moon calendar where the Lord has his
Festivals/High Holy Days and another calendar showing
Sunday through Saturday for the Shabbats - seems a bit
confusing. So there are two calendars at chabad.org
- not one. One calendar for the Lord's High Holy
Days/Festivals and another for Friday/Satruday Shabbats.
The
Children of Israel (under Moses) declared the New Moon and
a New Month and a seven day count to the first Shabbat of
the new month, and then another seven day count to the
second Shabbat and another seven day count to the third
Shabbat, and another seven day count to the fourth
Shabbat. And.then came another New Moon Day and the
count started over. The New Moon/New Month was
declared with the sighting of the sliver of the moon, and
Day 1 started the next month.
Dr.
Awe And His Count of the Shabbats For
Shavuot/Feast of Weeks:
Dr. Awe
explains in his Youtubes how he uses the sighting of the
new moon and the counting of days to find the Shabbats and
the Lord's Feast Days. For example, In several
videos he's gone through the 'proper' way to count off the
Sabbaths to find Shavuot and the Feast of New Wine and the
Feast of New Oil. The other Lord's Feasts are pretty
straight forward: Passover, "at twilight on the
fourteenth day of the first month, then Unleavened Bread
on the fifteenth day, then Feast of Firstfruits on the
sixteenth day.....then Feast of Trumpets on the first day
of the seventh month, then Day of Atonement on the tenth
day of the seventh month, then Feast of Tabernacles on the
fifteenth day of the seventh month. These are pretty
straight forward with new moons and full moons and some
day counts
Leviticus
23 BSB
.
Dr. Awe
said, "Days of the week names were created in Babylon by
pagans. Saturday is named after Saturn. God does not
count by Saturdays and Sundays....the Jews adopted the
pagan practice of days of the week counting and that they
went astray from counting by the sun, moon and stars and
they instituted the Sabbath beginning on Friday nights at
twilight until Saturday nights at twilight. And God
reprimanded them in Isaiah 1:14 where He says "your new
moons and your appointed feasts I hate" and Amos 5:21 "I
hate, I despise your feast days." The Jews had gone
astray from God's instructions. They've mixed in the
"leaven" of the pagans...They call the dark moon
conjunction new moon instead of the first visible
crescent. And they call Friday/Saturday sabbath
instead of the 7th day after the first visible crescent as
the Sun sets." Dr. Awe calls these "Sabbaths" the
"pagan fake sabbath of Friday and Saturday."
He went
on to say that "..Everyone on Earth, at every time on
Earth for the last 6,000 years could always find the 1st
day and the 7th day and the 10th and the 14th and the 21st
and the 50th and could easily and accurately and
consistently always count God's way to His Appointed
Feasts..." He said that Shavuot/Feast of Weeks is on
the 15th day of the Third Month, this is the full
moon. Just like Unleavened Bread and Feast of
Tabernacles are on the 15th day, the full moon.
On Yom
Kippur, the High Priest would enter the Holy of Holies -
if he entered this holy place during the wrong day, he
would be struck down.

The
Correct Day of Yom Kippur:
How can
the High Priest know for sure which day is Yom Kippur/Day
of Atonement?- if he's not absolutely correct - he will
enter the Holy of Holies on the wrong day and be struck
down dead. If one looks at the list of High Priests
of Ancient Israel - for many we have year ranges for their
'rule' as High Priest - did any of those die because they
entered the Holy of Holies on the wrong day? If the
Temple was rebuilt today, would their High Priest know for
sure which day was Yom Kippur?

The
Correct Day of Shavuot:
IF we
are not identifying the Shabbat days correctly, how can we
know when the day of Shavuot is - how are we to count
'seven sabbaths'? Where do we start? That's why Dr.
Awe did videos on the 'correct' way to count to this
day/and where to start. His belief is that the 15th
day of the third month - which this year falls on June 21,
the full moon - Friday. is the day of Shavuot. And
it is also a Shabbat - being on the 15th of the
month. The Essenes believed that Shavuot was on the
15th of Sivan

Different Calendars:
To
compound the calendar problem, different calendars start
in different months. Every now and then there will
be calendars starting on the same day/same month - so the
calendars are in sync. Only one month can be the
correct month. March, April, May? And some
calendars do not use the sighting of the new moon.
Which
is correct? Is it the chabad calendar?
The Enoch calendar? The Zadok calendar? The Essene
calendar? The Creator's calendar? The Hebcal
calendar? For this year, did one of these start with
the correct day/month and with the correct sighting of the
New Moon?
Aaron at
God A Minute counted Shavuot to June 16 (counting Shabbats
found on Saturdays), the Jewish calendar (Israel) uses 6th
of Sivan - June 12. Dr. Awe counted to June 21
(using the new moon as Day 1) June 21 is the full
moon. Someone else counted to June 23, Sunday -
starting the count a week after Aaron. Who is
correct? Is anyone correct?
On a
side note, Dr. Awe in his Youtube said that he thought
there was a much better possible date for the Rapture than
Shavuot. He's looking at Feast of New Wine - I think he
has that around 9th of Av. Luis Vega had two letters last
week on this topic - he's looking at July 23 (probable
date). The Essene calendar has 3 Av as July
21. Luis wrote, "My rationale is to show that there
is much confusion or overlap in calendars and muddies the
waters, as they say, in truly discerning when the New Wine
is actually occurring.".

It's
exasperating that there is so much confusion. BUT
that doesn't stop us from putting an effort in to looking
for the correct dates...someone will be right one
day.
Have we
passed the 'correct' Shavuot/Feast of Weeks for
2024? Or is it still future? The next
'specific' high watch day is Feast of New Wine - What some
consider the Acts Pentecost.
