Hello Jim and Doves,
There have been other letters to Doves over the years
about a huge earthquake occurring at the time of the Rapture
- a huge amount of energy would go in to raising the dead
and changing the mortal to immortal. Your article
gives examples of similar 'energy' - like the Great
Flood. The other examples appear to be more
'localized' - the death of Christ, the resurrection of
Christ, Paul and Silas in prison, etc. But all show
the power of God. And they also show He uses global
AND 'localized' earthquakes to fulfill His will.
The author of your article wrote, "But perhaps the
greatest earthquake of all time - a planet-wide shaking
event, will be the disappearance of millions of people."
Years ago I read a report by a seismologist who wrote
that such a huge quake would cause feet high 'moguls' to
traverse continents. Along with the huge tsunamis on
the coasts.
The USGS says that there is no fault line long enough
on the Earth to allow for a 10 earthquake. "The
magnitude of an earthquake is related to the length of the
fault on which it occurs. That is, the longer the
fault, the longer the earthquake....No fault long enough to
generate a magnitude 10 earthquake is known to exist, and if
it did, it would extend around most of the planet. The
largest earthquake ever recorded was a magnitude 9.5 on May
22, 1960 in Chile on a fault that is almost 1,000 miles
long, a "megaquake" in its own right."
Can
"MegaQuakes" really happen? Like a magnitude 10 or larger?

The Earth is still a mystery in many ways. There
could be a deep fault that seismologists haven't become
aware of...or God could just make it happen!
Megaquakes, localized quakes, etc.
There have been several letters to Doves about David
Lowe's "Earthquake Resurrection: Supernatural Catalyst for
the Coming Global Catastrophe" book. "Earthquake
resurrection explores the possibility that the disappearance
of a large group of believers worldwide will be masked by
global catastrophe. This possibility is based on a
pattern found in scripture that the power unleashed when a
human being is resurrected into an immortal body causes a
shaking of the surrounding earth....Will there be a global
shaking of the earth from the power of the
resurrection? Is the "trump of God" that accompanies
the resurrection event the voice of God that will once again
shake the earth, as it did at Mount Sinai?"

Resurrection: Supernatural Catalyst for the Coming Global
Catastrophe by David W. Lowe | Goodreads
If there is to be a "10" quake at the Rapture -
worldwide (or localized lesser megaquakes) - that would
cause devastating destruction - especially to the more
'modern' countries. And countries with coastlines
(many large cities are located on coastlines that would be
wiped out with the huge tsunamis) For the people not
killed by collapsing buildings, huge fissures, huge tsunamis
on the coastlines...then no electric grid, no water systems,
no banking, no health care system would throw any survivors
back to the 'middle ages'. I think those countries
would see massive die offs.
If the Rapture occurs right at the start of the
Tribulation, like many believe, and then is accompanied by a
huge quake, then this devastation would keep the U.S./other
countries with large Christian populations out of the Gog
and Magog War. (But I can think of several other
'scenarios' that would keep the U.S. from coming to Israel's
aid during that time - one would be Obama-Biden/his military
standing down....)
U.S. government studies have shown that with the take
down of the electric grid in the U.S. (by EMP or cyber
attacks), 90% of the population would be dead within a
year. That would leave some 30 million people just
from no electric grid - probably most of the survivors would
be spread out in rural areas.
BUT if we also add in the huge tsunamis caused by a
megaquake - a large percentage of the U.S. population
could be wiped off the planet almost immediately.
According to this NOAA.gov article - "Coastal counties
of the U.S. are home to 129 million people, or almost 40
percent of the nation's total population."

and Demographics
It's hard to, if not impossible, to come to grips with
something like this really happening - but it certainly is a
possibility. If this is to happen, those in the
Rapture, if they could look down - (but why would they want
to - they are told to 'look up'!), would see massive
destruction taking place below them. I see the Rapture
happening for those alive and those resurrected much like Jesus's Ascension where witnesses
actually watched Him rise up into the clouds.
And what would follow in the Tribulation kicks all of
this up another 'horrifying' notch or two or three.
Just my thoughts...
Jim - thank you for bringing this topic up again on
Doves - imo, good timing!
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
Maranatha!
