In the beginning God created His heaven and His throne. In his heaven, God created his angels and the beings who stood around his throne. All these created beings jumped for joy at their creation and the glories of heaven around them. In this heaven was God’s temple wherein was God’s thrones for God the Father and Jesus. This heaven was also called the Eden of God. Then, while walking on the stones of fire around God’s throne, Lucifer fell as in Ezekiel 28. Some time after this, Lucifer led a rebellion in heaven. God could have destroyed Lucifer and his rebel angels, but that would have only proven that He was more powerful, not that He was right. So, God created our heavens and earth to create mankind. Through mankind’s love for God, he would prove that He was right and Lucifer, now Satan, was wrong. So, yes, the point of this creation is that God created a family who would choose to love Him. And yes, God created darkness to contrast light with darkness, making day and night. All this is, of course, why there is no gap. Lewis
