Finished going through Jude, began going through Revelation, and considering something in the first chapter:

Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Over the years, there were those who couldn't come to say that line 8 was about Jesus, but that it had to be about the Father, because it says, "the Almighty".

I knew that JWs couldn't accept that it was about Jesus, because they consider him to be another, lesser god, than the Father.

But I was surprised by Christians, who claim to believe that Jesus is God, having difficulty with line 8 being about Jesus.

I would gather that everyone on FiveDoves has no problem with line 8, so that is not why I'm writing this.

It's that, by the time I got to the end of chapter 1, yesterday, I realized that if I had only gone backwards, with those that had a hard time with line 8, I could have shown them.

But since I didn't know that, back then, I clearly didn't go backwards in the chapter with them.

Towards the end of the chapter, the one speaking to John, said the following:

Revelation 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

  18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

The one that was dead, and is now alive again, is clearly Jesus; as he is the one who was resurrected from the dead.

Also, in line 17, speaking of himself, he said, "I am the first and the last".

However, in and of itself, that doesn't directly connect him with being the one back in line 8, who calls himself, "the Almighty".

So, continuing backwards from line 17, to line 11:

Revelation 1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

Now, in line 11, the one speaking, says of himself, that he is, "the first and the last".

Which connects him to the one in line 17, saying the same thing about himself, that he is, "the first and the last".

That then means that the one speaking in line 11, must also be Jesus, like in lines 17-18.

Yet, he also says of himself in line 11, "I am Alpha and Omega".

That would mean that Jesus is, "Alpha and Omega".

So, that would then connect line 11, back to line 8, where the one speaking, also says of himself, "I am Alpha and Omega".

That would mean that the one speaking in line 8 is clearly Jesus.

Therefore, it is Jesus, in line 8, who calls himself, "the Almighty".

For me, I just wish that I had looked at the chapter backwards, like this, years ago, so that I could have shown those who had trouble with line 8, that there really is no trouble after all.

Now, I could have also shown them, a few other lines connecting with these:

Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

  13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

It is Jesus who is coming back, and when he does, it will be quickly.

And he also calls himself these three terms: "Alpha and Omega", "the beginning and the end", and "the first and the last".

And then this would connect with a couple lines in Isaiah, which would then also show that Jesus is the LORD:

Isaiah 41:4 Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.

Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

But then in chapter 21, there is this:

Revelation 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

  6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

  7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Yes, it is Jesus, who is, "Alpha and Omega", that offers this water:

John 4:10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

  14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Revelation 7:17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

However, there are those who may say that this can only be the Father, and not Jesus, since it says, "he that sat upon the throne", and he also says, "I will be his God, and he shall be my son".

But, isn't Jesus also on the throne?

Revelation 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

And in the new Jerusalem, isn't the throne referred to as, "the throne of God and of the Lamb" 

Revelation 22:1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

  3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

So, doesn't, "the throne of God and of the Lamb", mean the throne of both the Father and Jesus, together?

Wouldn't, then, that allow for both the Father and Jesus together in Revelation 21:5, Jesus in line 6, and the Father in line 7?
