The old church has been used as a
theatre for decades after being deconsecrated in
1932, but up to 70 protestors from “Catholic and
other Christian groups” rallied outside
the former house of worship on July 8 when LGBT
activists announced that they would be hosting
mocking events, including an opening event
called “Sunday Mess – An Unholy Brunch Party:

promotion of the event proved particularly
controversial. On the group’s Instagram account,
which has since been removed, the bio described
it as a “Sanctuary for Mischief”, with a cross
as its profile picture. Screenshots seen by
AdVaticanum show men dressed as nuns alongside
the caption “Sanctifying this wonderful
sanctuary”, while another shows a group huddled
beside a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary with
the caption “We’ve come a long way baby, Unholy

showed a man dressed as a pig offering
McDonald’s French fries with the captions “Body
