This mystery comet is thought to originate from outside our galaxy.......or it came from the thicker part of our Milky Way's galaxy disk. Which, according to the article, harbours the oldest stars. The article also suggests that this comet is more ancient than our sun!! Golly - that's quite the statement. Scientists say that it's one of the 'elders' in our cosmic block. 31/ATLAS is described as 'gigantic'. It will pass close to Mars this October and will make it's closest approach to earth on December 17th. Then it swings out, flying past Jupiter in March 2026.
