"finding Jesus in Job"

(There are a few things in the book of Job, where Jesus appears to be found by type, or by contrast, by fulfillment, or by prophecy.)

Job 1:8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

(Is it possible that something similar was said to the devil, about Jesus, right after he was baptized?

If so, then the enemy would have desired to tempt, hurt, and break the Son of God.)

Job 1:20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,

  22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

(No matter what the devil did against him, Jesus continued to please the Father.)

Job 2:10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

(By willfully submitting to the LORD's will, Job prefigured Jesus' attitude in the garden of Gethsemane.)

Job 3:25a For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me,

  26b  yet trouble came.

(Could that in anyway prefigure, a little, the following?)

Hebrews 5:7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

Matthew 26:38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

Luke 22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Job 6:10b  for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.

John 17:8a For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me;

Job 9:2 I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?

Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Job 9:8 Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.

Mark 6:49a But when they saw him walking upon the sea,

Job 9:32 For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.

  33 Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.

I Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Job 10:4 Hast thou eyes of flesh? or seest thou as man seeth?

  5 Are thy days as the days of man? are thy years as man’s days,

Matthew 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Job 13:16 He also shall be my salvation:

I Thessalonians 5:9b  but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

Job 14:4a Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean?

Mark 5:30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him,

Mark 1:40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

  41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.

  42 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.

Job 14:14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

Hebrews 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Job 16:19 Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high.

I John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Job 16:21 O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour!

  20a My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh,

(The night of Jesus' betrayal, and the day of his crucifixion)

Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

  26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

  27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

I John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

Job 23:12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Job 30:16 And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me.

Psalms 22:14 I am poured out like water,

Job 30:20a I cry unto thee, and thou dost not hear me:

Psalms 22:1b  why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

Job 33:24 Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.

I Timothy 2:6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Job 33:30a To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.

Psalms 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

  11a Thou wilt shew me the path of life:

Job 34:10b far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.

  12 Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.

I John 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Job 36:15 He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.

Luke 4:18a The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor;

Mark 7:37 And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

Job 38:17 Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?

Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Job 40:8 Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?

Romans 3:26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

(So, when we read through Job, in addition to considering righteous Job, suffering at the hand of the devil;

We need to think also of innocent, righteous Jesus, suffering like Job.

But more than Job, Jesus never sinned, and Jesus suffered for the sins of everyone else.

Then in the end, the LORD turned the captivity of Job, similarly, also for Jesus.

Jesus was raised from the dead, ascended into heaven, seated at the right hand of the Father, and now has a bride, the church.)

(So, in reading Job, we ponder, "Why do the righteous suffer"?

But more so, we should ponder about Jesus, and why the perfectly righteous one suffered.)
