"Everlasting Righteousness - Chance"

Hi John, Chance and Doves,

Re. EVERLASTING RIGHTEOUSNESS

Chance (23 Apr 2023) “EAR”

…but the bringing in of everlasting righteousness, sealing up the vision and prophecy and anointing the most Holy - is Second Coming, in my opinion, is yet future.

Chance, your opinion saying the ‘bringing in of everlasting righteousness, sealing up the vision and prophecy and anointing the most Holy’ occurs at the Second Coming etc., disagrees with the basic teaching in Romans, Hebrews and other New Testament books regarding the last three tasks listed in Daniel 9:24b, which you have quoted. I have provided just some of the numerous New Testament references showing the fulfilment of all six of these tasks by Messiah, which had to be completed for the confirmation of the covenant mentioned in Dan. 9:27a. The references are listed in my book The Curse and the Covenant (pages 89 to 96). THE CURSE AND THE COVENANT (fivedoves.com)

By saying this, you obviously don’t believe that Jesus finished the work He was sent to do during His Parousia/First Coming! This leaves me wondering what you think the whole Gospel message is all about, and whether or not you feel secure in your salvation. I know for sure that Jesus’ righteousness covers my sins for all eternity!

Re: Everlasting Righteousness is for all believing Jews and Gentiles:

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it [the Gospel] the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, [Hab. 2:4] ‘The just shall live by faith.’ (Rom. 1:16–17)

Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. (Romans 10:1–4)

For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.’ For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Rom. 10:10–13)

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Cor. 5:21)

That sounds like universal and everlasting righteousness being imputed to all believers (both Jew and Gentile) through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, right now, if they believe it in their heart, and accept it by faith! Those facts will not change at His Second Coming! As Paul so rightly exclaims:

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus… according to the Spirit. (Rom. 8:1)

But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. (Heb. 10:12–14)

The New Testament indicates that the early Church in Jerusalem after Pentecost was totally Jewish (Matt. 10:5–7, 15:24; Acts 2:41, 47, 5:14, 11:24). Today there are a quarter of a million Messianic Jews living in the USA, and at least another 20,000 practising Messianic Jews living in Israel!  Neither God, nor Jesus, ever said He was going to save the whole nation!

Most theologians believe the ‘Times of the Gentiles’ (Church era) is running concurrently in our modern era, with identical opportunities for the Jews to find salvation through the One who died for their sins (particularly in countries—other than Israel—where proselytising is allowed). God hasn’t shut up the heavens to the Jewish remnant… their salvation (like ours) is freely available, and their coming to faith in Jesus is on-going...

Isaiah only talked about a ‘remnant’ of Israel being saved during the Millennium period (Isaiah 11:10–12, 16; cf. Romans 9:27–28,). Jesus did say ‘whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life!’

Thus, Jesus is now ‘sitting down’ in the central place of power in the heavenly realm; He has finished His work, by making everlasting righteousness available to all who call on His name; He has put us in a ‘right’ relationship with God.  Our condition now in the sight of God, will be made evident to the world, when the ‘sons/daughters of God’ are made manifest at His return (Romans 8:15–19; 29–30).

Re: Sealing up the vision and prophecy:

After His resurrection, on the road to Emmaus (Mark 16:12; Luke 24:13–35, esp. v. 27) Jesus told the two disciples how He came to fulfil prophecy in all the Old Testament scriptures, from Moses to the Prophets.

The scroll, in Revelation 5 and 6 (containing God’s plan for humankind, from beginning to end), was most certainly sealed with seven seals, until only Jesus Christ, the slain Lamb of God, who had the right to open it, revealed what had been predestined to occur on earth from when the Gospel was released until the consummation. (See endnote 3 in my post to Steve Coerper on 9 July 2023.) Steve Coerper (2 July 2023) 'The Rider on the White Horse' (fivedoves.com)

Biblical visions and prophecy were sealed up long ago with the completion of the Testaments, with nothing to be added to, or taken away from Revelation. There is only the ‘fulfilment’ of the already described visions and written prophecies that are yet to occur between now and the end times. I wonder if that is what you mean by saying it won’t happen till the Second Coming?

I would really like to know what more you expect Jesus to do when He comes in glory at His Parousia?

Re: Anointing the Most Holy:

Furthermore, Hebrews chapters 8–10 confirms that Jesus is now seated at the right hand of God in the Holy of Holies as the anointed One, as our great High Priest.

Now where there is remission [forgiveness] of these [sins], there is no longer an offering for sin. Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who is promised is faithful. (Heb. 10:19–23)

(Cf. Romans 5:19;  9:28–31; 10:1–10; 2 Cor. 5:12 (below); Phil. 3:6–9; Heb. 11:7; 12:11; 2 Peter 1:1; 3;12; 1 John 2:29; 3:7)

The Gospels tell us that immediately after His resurrection, Jesus ascended to heaven to appear in the Most Holy place (in the heavenly sanctuary) with the blood of His sacrifice! In doing so, He became the Most Holy anointed one! He obviously had to appear before God’s throne to achieve this, before He could be re-united with His disciples and appear to them in His resurrected form! John 20:17, shows this was Jesus’ immediate intention after His resurrection. Thus, the pre-incarnation ‘preview’ of this event, which is recorded in Daniel 7:13–14, shows Christ (One like the Son of Man), appearing in the throne room of the Ancient of Days soon after His resurrection and ascension, to receive His reward… dominion and glory and a kingdom, none of which will pass away or be destroyed.

Chance, you seem to think that Jesus—when He returns at His Second Coming—needs to be anointed by some mere human, but I certainly don’t think that! My reading of Daniel 7:9–10, 13–14; Matt. 26:63–64; Acts 7:55–56; Rev. 1:10–18, 5:5–14; 19:11–16, tells me that He will return as a victorious and conquering KING, to rule and reign with a rod of iron during the millennium (Isaiah 11:1–4; Rev. 2:27; 12:5; 19:15). He certainly won’t need anyone’s permission to do so, or wait for a blessing from anyone on earth!  Jesus doesn’t need any further anointing … not from me, you, or anyone else… Next time, He is coming as King, not as a sacrifice! He is returning as the anointed KingAnd He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.  (Rev. 19:16)

However, I can understand why you think that way; because Dispensational teaching won’t admit that ‘the covenant’ mentioned in Daniel 9:27a was actually the New Covenant for the forgiveness of sin, which is exactly what Jesus came to confirm, so that you and I (and every believer) can be made righteous in God’s sight through Him—right now—and for ever more.

Chance, I would really like to know what more you expect Jesus to do when He comes at His Parousia/Second Coming, especially regarding the three tasks you listed above. Do you have some references? How is Jesus going to do more to achieve everlasting righteousness, than what He has already done? He said… ‘It is finished’ (John 19:29) while on the cross.

Shalom, and Maranatha
