"THE FIVE WISE & FIVE FOOLISH VIRGINS (Poem) by Donna Danna"

THE FIVE WISE & FIVE FOOLISH VIRGINS

The virgins did sleep, did slumber
Ten no less was their full number
Five were foolish, five were wise
The bridegroom is coming, all arise
Our lamps have gone completely out
The foolish virgins began to shout
Give us of your oil they pleaded
But their words were not heeded
Lest there not be enough for us and you
Here is what you need to go and do
Go to the sellers and oil you buy
Hurry quickly the bridegroom draws nigh
But alas they were much too late
As Jesus left with his bride and shut the gate
Then a knock was heard at heaven's door
And the five foolish virgins did implore
We have bought oil for our lamps, please let us in, let us in
Too late, too late without the confession & forgiveness of your sin
You couldn't see the darkness of your sin
And your excuses seem mighty thin
At my coming, you were ill prepared
And from martyrdom you won't be spared
You five foolish virgins I know you not
My forgiveness of your sins was not sought
You were not ready when I came
With only your own selves to blame
I have shut heaven's door and its gate
The great tribulation is now your fate
The five foolish virgins were left on Earth weeping
The consequences of their sins they will be reaping
