Living arrangement in Heaven

“In My Father’s house there are many mansions”; John 14:2

I have been studying about Heaven this year, what is in it, what is not in it, what will we do?

I was reading Revelation chapter 21 with the description of the New Jerusalem and the walls that surround the city. Each of the 4 walls is 1500 miles long and high. The wall is 216 feet thick. As I read that,  the thought occurred to me that you could live in that wall and have a nice condo. Rahab lived in the wall at Jericho. I do not know what her standing was in Jericho, other than that she was a prostitute. But she did not have an efficiency apartment, as she was able to hide two men in it, and she had a roof top, so she lived in a penthouse.

So what kind of apartment could there be in walls of New Jerusalem and how many people could live there?

The wall is 216 feet thick, so assuming there would be an apartment on the inside of the wall facing the city and an apartment on the outside of the wall facing the  countryside, each apartment could be 75 feet wide. That would leave 66 feet for a hallway. That should be wide enough for any delivery truck to drive down the hallway.

The walls are 1500 mile long or 7,920,000 feet long. Since this is heaven I think the apartments should be 500 feet long. That would give each apartment 37,500 square feet. Each floor would have 15,840 apartments (7,920,000 divided by 500). But assuming the walls are not paper thin and there should be some common areas, we will limit the number to 14,500 apartments per floor.

The walls are also 1500 miles high or 7,920,000 feet high. If we allow each apartment to have a 100 foot ceiling, each wall of the city would have 79,200 floors. But assuming that the floors are not paper thin and there may be need for other storage and construction needs, we will limit the number of floors to 75,000.

Each wall side (inner and outer) could house  over 1 billion apartments (14,500 times 75,000 = 1,087,500,000) each with 37,500 square feet and 100 foot ceilings.

Therefore with apartments on the inner wall and outer wall of each of the   4 walls of New Jerusalem the number of people that could live with a 37,500 square foot apartment would be over 8 billion.
