"Collapsing the 10th Commandment and the Economy"

Tennessee Ernie Ford had a major hit song in the late fifties
called "Sixteen Tons" (please see Youtube)

"You load sixteen tons (of coal), and what do you get ?
Another day older and deeper in debt.
St. Peter don't you call me cuz I can't go
I owe my soul to the Company Sto' (store)"

And that --in a nutshell-- is where we are today. We are
mesmerized by the "magic" of credit/debit cards, and are vulnerable to having nothing, should the economy fail.

The final fiscal quarter is over on September 30th of this year, and according to those who are in the know, we are overloaded with debt, and unable to Budget for the next fiscal year beginning on October 1, 2017.

As Christians, we are supposed to "owe no man anything but the debt of charity"( Living Bible) "but to love another" KJV).
Romans 13:8

When my spouse and I became Born Again, we had Great jobs and yet used our Charge Cards to incur $5,000 in debt.
(That was a Large amount many years ago).

There was absolutely no need to do that. It was the illusion that if we didn't pull hard cold cash out of our pockets, we wouldn't have to account for our expenditures..
Wrong.
And the interest rates escalated.

But then we got Born Again, paid off our debt, and cut up our
credit cards and have been debt free for umpteen years, by the Grace of God. I highly recommend doing that as one sleeps better for it, and also obtains financial freedom --- one of God's most comfortable blessing.

Unfortunately, our "voodoo" economics ( as former President Ronald Reagan named it) has lowered wages, increased inflation and the prices of homes and rentals so much so that the masses are caught in a vice, and many have no way out, as Tennessee Ernie Ford pointed out in his song.

The Bible term for "no way out" is "perplexity" and it is used in Luke 21:25 to describe what it would be like in the End Times.... the times we are now living in.

But God has given us His Word (the Bible) that tells us to be responsible in all our affairs and He will take care of us.
Even if we blow it, we are to ask for His forgiveness and then to ask for His help.

"Ye have not, because ye ask not" James 4:2.

The Rapture is definitely coming, and Hebrews 12:1 tells us to :"lay aside every weight (including the burden of debt) and run the race of life so as to win." 1 Corinthians 9:24.

At least we will weigh less as we rise to meet the Lord in the air.
Peace.
