"10 toes"
Dear Sir,
Since the brilliant Isaac Newton believed that the book of
Daniel contained genuine prophecy, I'm curious to look into the
matter and have been reading different websites for perspectives
about what the 10 toes might represent on the statue that
symbolizes the Roman empire.
I really admire people who are able to convert from Islam,
because it must be such a huge change. A Muslim colleague once
openly voiced her opinion that she basically hoped she was right
because she'd already invested her entire life in that
perspective: I found that revealing. And when I debated religion
with a teacher of Islam in Saudi, he began crying and begged,
"Stop, or you'll make me an atheist." It seems that for far too
many Muslim people, there is no alternative belief.
Congratulations on making the change!)
I'm writing to initiate a rational dialogue about the
perspective that the 10 toes on the Roman statue represent
Islamic kingdoms. Since Rome governed an area much more vast
then those kingdoms, I don't see how the passage in Psalms could
be referring to the same 10 referred to by Daniel. These were 10
toes of the Roman empire after all. How would you see a logical
progression from Rome to those 10 kingdoms?
I've been entertaining the notion that the two legs might have
represented Eastern and Western Rome. If so, the next question
becomes, what were the 5 most influential
cities/provinces/countries/rulers per leg either when Rome fell
or that somehow derive from Rome at a later time?
Have you heard any other explanations on this? At this point,
I'd like to hear as many possible explanations as possible
instead of limiting myself to just one possible explanation.
Take care.
Kind Regards,
George
