You have to ask yourself first if the third temple is the temple of God.

We don’t know for sure if the rebuilding of the temple is under the initiative of God’s people or under some powerful people who has the spirit of the antichrist to stage the event of revealing the final antichrist in person so that he can have a temple to stand to and declare himself as god, which God in His wisdom and sovereignty allowed so that the prophecies will be fulfilled.

If in your spirit you think it is not, then you know that this passage is from a different time and setting in the prophetic end timeline.

I believe this temple is the temple that will be built in the millennium kingdom wherein the saints will exercise their royal priesthood duties. It was measured to define the areas that will be protected by God for the coming attack of Gog and Magog of Rev. 20.

Take the case of the Israelites that were protected by God when He poured out his wrath to the kingdom of Pharaoh, the surrounding areas were the Israelites lives was spared. In the millennium kingdom case it will be the other way around.

There are some views that claims Jerusalem is Mystery Babylon. Remember that Jerusalem before 70 AD is under the rulership of the Pharisees which has the spirit of the antichrist. There is a passage also which describes Jerusalem as having the spirit of Sodom and Egypt and it is where the prophets and the saints were killed and the Lord was crucified.
