RE: F.M. Riley Commandments
You are so right on.
Most believers have nothing to do with the Old Testament, being taught that is for the Jewish people. But we have been adopted into the Family of God with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob being our fore fathers and we are the seed of Abraham by faith.
The Old Testament is for example of what to do and what not to do. The Jewish people got very sloppy in obeying God’s commandments. They went after other gods and got sloppy with obeying Jubilee, Sabbath, and Sabbatical years. For this, God allowed Jerusalem and Temple to be destroyed and they were sent to Babylon to be slaves and die there.
I believe that the bulk of of 613 Old Testament Laws are truly nailed to the cross, but also believe that the Ten Commandments written by God Himself in stone hold true for today. They are the original wedding contract between God and his people which includes us by adoption and faith.
When I was a child, the churches taught that the Ten Commandments are to be obeyed. But the church today rejects the 4th commandment regarding keeping the Sabbath (Saturday) and the 7th commandment concerning adultery so they reject all of them since obeying one would mean we should obey them all.
Today pastors become the very instrument of adultery by performing weddings for divorced people. There was a time pastors would not do this. Now churches get all excited for 2nd, 3rd, 4th or even same sex weddings.
If people reject God’s Ten Commandments, I think they do so at there own risk.
I believe that the Bride of Christ consists only of those who are in fact obeying God/Jesus commandments and are saved. Commandments consisting of the Ten Commandments, Feasts of God, and commandments Jesus gave Himself. They obey these because they love God. If you are not part of the Bride, you risk going into the tribulation and becoming one of those crying out under the altar.
Jesus is not 1/3 God nor is the Holy Spirit. There is no such thing as 1/3 God. The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord.
Thus Jesus is God as well as Holy Spirit. This means that when Jesus said “If You love me, obey my commandments” He spoke concerning the Ten Commandments also.
Proof:
Mark 10:19 and Luke 18:20 Jesus Himself is reciting part of the Ten Commandments.
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. These are to be obeyed by believers not for salvation sake but because we love Him.
John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
