Enjoyed your post John B about a sign preceding the rapture--it's an interesting subject.
As far as the question, "Will a warning or sign be given ahead of time for the rapture?"--I wonder how long the time will be between the shout, "Behold the Bridegroom Cometh!" and the actual rapture. A few minutes? An hour? A day? A week? Hard to say.
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. Matthew 25:2-13
So there is some time period between the shout that the "bridegroom cometh" and the arising of the virgins, trimming of lamps, and the conversation between the wise and unwise virgins to go to "them that sell." All of them were told to "go ye out to meet him him" which is consistent with jewish wedding tradition. So then the wise got up, went out to meet the bridegroom and were raptured at some point. Then the foolish who went to buy oil at the market came back and the door was closed.
(I've also seen others teach that the "no man knows the day or hour" line is about the second coming which to me seems impossible--people who are in the tribulation will be counting the seconds hoping for deliverance and it will hardly be business as usual during that time.)
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Matthew 24:36-41
The fact that there will be two in the field and one taken as well as two grinding at the mill with one taken seems to contradict the fact that there's some period of time between the shout that the bridegroom is coming and the snatching away. If there was a shout and then some period of time, I'd think the workers in the field or the grinders at the mill would at least drop what they were doing in anticipation of the rapture, so I'm not sure how to reconcile those two points. And they don't "go out" to meet him anywhere, they are just doing their jobs. Do the workers not hear the shout that the bridegroom is coming? The announcement in the first paragraph was made at midnight for all were slumbering and sleeping. I realize with time zones roughly half the world will be sleeping and half will be working. Maybe we will "sense" by the Holy Spirit that it is about to happen, and then it happens shortly after. Would love any input about this subject from other doves,
