Yesterday, I had decided to
write again and it was difficult to decide just what I was
to say. I knew it would be something
controversal, yet I had
convinced myself that I was hearing from the Lord.
Then I was startled to come across a couple of articles which confirmed what God was
giving to me. One of them was an article on WND by
Craig MacMillian entitled: “God spoke at the Republican Convention”.
2 Cor
13:1 tells us: ”In the mouth of two or three
witnesses shall every word be established.” I already had great respect of this
man’s writings. But what was on my mind, he echoed
almost word for word! I knew I had to go ahead, despite knowing it might
stir up a lot of controversy. But as I thought about it---my country is in
the process of electing its next president and
controversy is already stirred up!
Most people
who vote for a particular candidate will make their choice
after having listened to their speeches and perhaps
reading what others say. But the Bible tells us that
the powers that be are ordained by
the Lord. It is God
who rules in the events of nations! We
vote because we THINK we make the choice! But only by
having the ‘mind of Christ’ can we agree with God
regarding issues that affect us.
A lot
of issues were discussed at that convention in Cleveland.
Some brought cheers, some boos. Yet I suspect that
few ran to the Lord to see if He might also be cheering.
A lot of
delegates had brought their personal decisions with them
when they flew into Cleveland. There was already a
consensus what attention would be given to the theme
chosen: “All lives matter”...mainly referring to
ethnic diversity. Arguements and opinions would
hopefully come together without floor fights; and
delegates would go home satisfied.
But there was
one particular item that the delegates knew they would
rather not face: moral issues. Their way
of avoiding it? Simply hiding it in the all
lives matter trash can.
Certainly,
all lives DO matter. They matter greatly to
God. And it is easy to agree upon that fact-- yet
hard for conscience to reconcile--- knowing over 50
million lives of the unborn are aborted every year.
Soon, there
would be a ‘tip-toeing’ over another matter of which God’s
opinion went contrary to His Word: homosexuality. A noted
millionaire, a founder of PrayPal, was allowed to speak
and took the opportunity to publically boast of his
lifestyle in it, to the thunderous applaud from the crowd.
The adopted platform would later be careful to include
them.
Yes, a lot of
good things happened at the Republican event. Very
wonderful and inspiring speeches, patiorism and
acknowledgement of good things were (and will be) also
displayed at the Democratic one this week.. But this is also the Party that
raised the Gay Pride flag above our Whitehouse, and no
doubt it will also adorn their convention as
well. Even
today, a Gay Pride march is being held in the city of
Jerusaem.
I think it
would be wise for every heart’s complacency be examined
and wails of repenting cries to be heard in heaven
....quickly.
