The Gospels happened in a Hebrew speaking society, so it should be no shock if I tell you that when you re-assembly the Hebrew thought behind that the Messiah said to a Hebrew speaking audience, it might add some depth to how well we understand what He said.  For example, in Matthew 5:41-42, He said,

"And he who approaches you to go one mile, go with him also two.
And to he that asks of you, give to him.
And with borrowing from you, do not turn away." (Matt 5:41-42)

The Hebrew word "לוה" can mean either "accompany" or "borrow".  The first line above is about accompanying someone.  It is followed by a discussion of borrowing.  These concepts are not connected in English thought, but they are connected in Hebrew thought.

In Hebrew, a woman is said to be "lifted up" when she is married.  So when the Messiah said, "the days will come when the bridegroom shall be lifted up from them, and then shall they fast." (Matt 9:15), He may have confused his audience, which may have been thinking, "Hey...isn't it the BRIDE that is lifted up?"  Of course, we know what He meant because we have the benefit of hindsight.

In the following video, I restore some of the Hebrew thought behind a lot of the Gospel events and show you how we can understand His teaching better when we try to re-assembly the original Hebrew thought behind what He said.  This has no bearing on what language the Gospels were written in, but merely the thought behind the words chosen.
