A RITAN member posted that she thought she had seen a sort of firework effect on this last full moon. Here, in UK, we have been having one heck of a heatwave. It's been unbearably hot. Oh for the relief of rain! The full moon was huge - a great big orange / yellow ball in a stunning night blue sky. It was blazing at me through my bedroom window. It was no ordinary moon though - to my eyes (sleepy but sober) it was a double moon. Like seeing two of something when one has had too much wine at dinner. I kept dashing to the window - even closing one eye to look (just in case I really was seeing things).  I tried taking a photograph but it came out looking very far away and normal.  Well - this optical illusion didn't go away for about 15 minutes. Once it did stop, I could finally sleep. I must add - in case you were wondering - I hadn't had any alcohol at dinner !!!

I wouldn't have mentioned but felt I should after reading the RITAN member's experience with the same moon.
