"[Revelation2217] Case for Structural Integrity..."

With some recent interest in the Scrivener’s Textus Receptus 1894 that I edited back in 2011, I was able to get in touch with Alan Bunning whose work immensely was beneficial to correcting the variants I had when I was putting the work together from public domain sources and comparing it to a resource derived from a commercial program.   Basically, his work compared several electronic copies of Scrivener’s which contained as many as 2000 variants for the exact same text.  With his effort, he was able to come up with a “MASTER TEXT” which he verified with an 1881 copy of Scrivener’s.    We had 147 differences which I verified against a TR-1887 from Archive.org (http://www.archive.org/details/greeknewtestamen00scriuoft) and the TR-1894 from Google Book’s scanned copy. (http://books.google.com/books?id=Ih43AAAAMAAJ&ots=TYJAWQVEPZ&pg=PP9). For the most part, Alan’s proved to be the same as the printed with the following exceptions:

I have 14 colophons which I placed at the end of the respective books.

1 difference is because I used a "stigma" rather than a "sigma" in Rev 13:18.

1 difference was because my version of Mark 6:3 uses οὐχ and his was οὐκ. Mine agrees with the printed 1887 and 1894 text.

6 differences (3 pairs) were Romans 1:9-10, Romans 3:25-26, and 1 Thes 2:11-12 where the verse division may not have been clear. Mine follows the verse division of the KJV.

In talking with Alan, he verified that the οὐκ he used in Mark 6:3 was in fact used in the TR-1881 printed version, and was modified or corrected in the 1887 and 1894 version.

So I thought it would be nice if I would do a study on the Structural Integrity based on the differences and see if there was any indication which was correct.

Here is the text from the KJV.

Verse # 24411  (NT Verse # 1266)

Mark 6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

Here is the Greek Text from the TR-1894:  (https://bible.com/183/mrk.6.3.tr1894)

Gematria = 16862

Here is the Greek Text from the TR-1881:

Mark 6:3  οὐκ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ τέκτων, ὁ υἱὸς Μαρίας, ἀδελφὸς δὲ Ἰακώβου καὶ Ἰωσῆ καὶ Ἰούδα καὶ Σίμωνος; καὶ οὐκ εἰσὶν αἱ ἀδελφαὶ αὐτοῦ ὧδε πρὸς ἡμᾶς; καὶ ἐσκανδαλίζοντο ἐν αὐτῷ.   Gematria = 16822

Honestly, there seemed to be no connections with 16822 (ouk) to a verse about Jesus’s family.   However, I did find this which was unrelated, but interesting.

Verse # 16822

Prov 15:14   The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.

Using the Webster’s 1828 Dictionary…

Webster’s Vol 2 Word # 16822 = Sophomore

Basically, Sophomore (Wise fool) happens to be aligned with a similar verse about the WISE and the FOOLISH.

However, 16862, although it is not perfectly obvious, there seems to be some indication that it is correct.   First off, it is not the only verse with the SAME exact weight.

Mark 6:3   Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.  Gematria = 16862

Luke 11:2   And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Gematria = 16862

We also have Webster’s to look at….

Webster’s Word # 16862DIVERSIFICATION, n. [See Diversify.]

1. The act of changing forms or qualities, or of making various.
2. Variation; variegation.
3. Variety of forms.
4. Change; alteration.

We could look at Mark 6:3 and ask if there is anything in that verse that shows diversification.   In my mind, naming all of Jesus’s brothers and sisters indicate some degree of diversification though it is not clearly related.

Mark 6:3 is the 1266th Verse of the New Testament.

Greek Strong’s # 1266 = to divide, part

We can look at…

Verse # 16862

Prov 16:21   The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

Again…. nothing here seems to be related.  How about measuring the distance between Mark 6:3 (Verse # 24411) and Prov 16:21 (Verse # 16862)?

24411 16862 = 7549

Hebrew Strong’s # 7549 = firmament

Here is the FIRST verse that the firmament appears….

Gen 1:6   And God said, Let there be a firmamentH7549 in the midst of the waters, and let it divideH914 the waters from the waters.

Wait… hold on…  didn’t I see something related earlier?   Yes I did.

Mark 6:3 is the 1266th Verse of the New Testament.

Greek Strong’s # 1266 = to divide, part

THAT to me is enough evidence that οὐχ in Mark 6:3 is CORRECT.
