Will the Third Temple be Destroyed on Tisha B’Áv (9th Av)?If so, what year could this be?
It may seem unusual to speculate on the destruction of a building (the Temple in Jerusalem) that does not exist at present! However, this may be more important than we realise. This is made all the more timely with Tisha BÁv for 2015 approaching: 25 July (Saturday night) and 26 July (Sunday). We know as an amazing historical fact (Divine coincidence) that both the First (Solomon’s) and Second (Herod’s) Temples were destroyed on the same day: 9th Av!!
f the Day of Destruction of the Third Temple were to be on Tisha BÁv, then the following timeline is of considerable interest. Counting back seven prophetic (360 day years) from Tisha BÁv 2022, we find as follows:
2022: 6 August 2022 back to 11 September 2015 (Rosh Hashanah 13/14 Sept)!! Quite remarkable that a seven year count back comes to 11 September (14 or 2*7 years from 911) - many signs are pointing to this date, to Rosh Hashanah that follows two days later and the following feasts, culminating with the Fourth Blood Moon on the Feast of Tabernacles/Sukkot on 28 September 2015!
This is explained in more detail later on in this letter, including seven 360 day years reverse counts for: 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027..
Jesus Predicts Destruction of the Second Temple and Third Temple!
Matthew 24: 1,2 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
Jesus remarkably (from a human perspective) predicted the total destruction of the Second Temple (see Matthew 24:1,2 above), and most of us are aware of the incredible fulfilment (on 9th Av 70 AD). In the same chapter of Matthew, Jesus predicts that an Antichrist will set up an abominable statue in the (Third) Temple (see below).
Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation’, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
In respect of future Temples in (or near Jerusalem), it is hard to escape the conclusion that the Third Temple will be built primarily for the Antichrist, not the Messiah!! By way of example, in Canberra at present we are dealing with a serious housing problem due to an asbestos product, and more than a 1000 homes will need to be demolished. The abomination in the Temple will so permeate and corrupt the Temple building that it will need to be destroyed at the Coming of the Lord (to the Mount of Olives). The Messiah’s Temple will be the incredible and glorious building spoken of and detailed in the last part of Ezekiel (chapters 40 to 48).
Timing of the Destruction of the Third Temple (Zechariah 14:3,4)
Then the Lord will go forth, and fight against those nations,
As He fights in the day of battle.
4 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,
Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, From east to west,
Making a very large valley;
Half of the mountain shall move toward the north
And half of it toward the south.In Zechariah 14 we read a clear prophecy of the Lord’s Return to the Mount of Olives, and the earthquake that will split the mountain. Given the close proximity of Temple Mount to the Mount of Olives, the Third Temple would be destroyed at the Lord’s Coming. With this in mind, I looked at what it would be for timelines if the Temple were destroyed on 9th Av. I believe in a pre-tribulation Rapture with the final seven (prophetic) years being primarily for Israel (the time of Jacob’s trouble).
So I counted back seven prophetic or 360 day years (as best I could and allowing for leap years) from Tisha BÁv in 2022 through to 2027. I hope that my calculations are reliable, as the findings are quite interesting. My view is that the Day of the Lord is a period of time covering seven years, plus the period (x?) up to the final seven years. This could be up to five years, although the Rapture could take place at any time!!! My thoughts on the Day of the Lord are outlined in a previous letter (link below).

Counting Back Seven Prophetic Years - by Year
2022: 6 August 2022 back to 11 September 2015 (Rosh Hashanah 13/14 Sept)
2023: 27 July 2023 back to 1 September 2016
2024: 13 August 2024 back to 19 September 2017 (Rosh Hashanah 20/21 Sept)
2025: 3 August 2025 back to 9 September 2018 (Rosh Hashanah 9/10 Sept)
2026: 23 July 2026 back to 28 August 2019
2027: 12 August 2027 back to 17 September 2020 (Rosh Hashanah 18/19 Sept)
Now I know that this looks complicated, but it is quite amazing that for four years: 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2020, counting forward seven prophetic (360 day) years from (close to Rosh Hashanah) takes you to Tisha BÁv!!! I know that the day count is one to three days short of Rosh Hashanah. However, these may be critical points covered with days of darkness, and this (in my view) accounts for the differences. I would like to be able to explain how these timelines may fit with the fulfilment of the remaining feasts, but I am not able to at present. Similarly, the Rapture could take place at any time!!
What this Could Mean - Looking from an Israel Perspective
I will keep this as brief as possible. Put simply, if the Third Temple is to be destroyed on Tisha B’Av, then there are four years when Rosh Hashanah could lead into the seven year pre-tribulation period (2015, 2017, 2018 and 2020). Some quick points for each year are below:
(11 September 2015) The ISIS terror/Middle East turbulence may escalate into a greater war, possibly with the fulfilment of Isaiah 17 about Damascus: The burden against Damascus. (verse 1) Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap. Then behold, at eventide, trouble (terror)! And before the morning, he is no more. Iran may also be involved (Isaiah 13).
What a remarkable date for the count back to 11 September 2015, 14 years (2*7) from 11 September 2001, and a date that many are signs are pointing to!!!
(19 September 2017) This could be the time for fulfilment of the Psalm 83 war - a great victory for Israel over the surrounding countries. For this war to eventuate, these countries need to be unified in their attempt to wipe out Israel as a nation (and they are not at present!!) There is a total solar eclipse on 21 August 2017 (including right over the United States), and this may signal greater judgement on the nations, including the United States.
(9 September 2018) This could be the time of the Gog/Magog war in Ezekiel, when Iran and several nations come against Israel, and are destroyed on the mountains in Israel. Alternatively, this could be the time for the year of Vengeance of God, with the Gog/Magog war on the later date around 17 September 2020.
(17 September 2020) This timing is at the outer limits of my thoughts, and expectancy. However, the year of Vengeance (September 2018 to September 2019), could be followed by the hour (the year to September 2020) that the ten kings serve with the Antichrist (the Beast Kingdom)!! Following the Gog/Magog battle, the Beast (Antichrist) could take full control of the World for the seven years of Jacob’s trouble!!
All in all, the signs around us are getting stronger and stronger. Whether this is the time of the Rapture of the Bride, or a quantum shift into a mighty revival (the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon ALL FLESH!!) remains to be seen. We know two things. Events leading up to the Lord’s Return are accelerating and we are encouraged by the Lord to look up, for our redemption draweth nigh!!
Three weeks of Destruction and Renewal Leading up to Tisha B’Áv
This is not highlighted very much, but is a very important period of time, including for reflection on God’s dealing with the nation of Israel. In 2015, the Three Weeks begins on 4 July, just as the United States is entering its 240th (6*40) year as an in dependent nation!! Who knows where it will be in a year’s time as it enters the seventh 40 year period - and where will other nations be at as the Day of the Lord comes upon the World!!
