"Re Jovial (6 July 2014) "SDAs""
John and Doves,
Jovial makes some good points about Pastor Bob's letters criticizing the SDA's.
I have some experience in this matter and have attended several of their
church meetings including the annual get togethers. I have also written
to their leaders.
At one time I knew many SDA's and very nice people they were too.
They do say that by going to church on Sunday is receiving the Mark of
the Beast. This is a most serious accusation of all other Christians.
They also say and have written books which tell of the soon to be made
law requiring all Christians to worship on Sunday. But what about
non-Christians?
When they tell me this I ask them "What about all the dead in Christ who
never lived at the time of this coming law? Have they received the Mark
of the Beast or not?"
On a more petty level they also teach not to drink during a meal. Try it some time.
Most will already know that their predecessors were the Millerites who
predicted the return of Christ in 1844 but got it wrong of course. So
this was then changed into,
"1844 was the start of the Investigative Judgement by Christ" which is
going on to this day. I see that as a kind of control strategy.
I have also been to a presentation meeting where no questions were allowed at the end.
Lastly, I remember a senior SDA saying, "Salvation is not dependent upon
the calendar!" Clearly he wasn't all that impressed with their
teaching.
They have set themselves apart form all other Christians and believe they alone have the truth.
Keep looking up,
Phil.
