"My Youngest Son's
Request"
John and Doves,
Please permit me to tell you a story about my youngest son.
Both my sons aged 7 and 9 have lived with me since early
December, 2012 and they come to church with
me just about every Sunday morning and go to Sunday School and
also attend Boy's Brigade on a Friday night.
When they were young I bought them several Christian children's
books and read many of them to them. My
youngest was always asking me to read one of these stories to
him.
These books came from a certain Christian bookshop in Perth
about 40 kilometres away and so we receive
their literature in the mail.
At home we have a KJV and a NKJV and the younger boy often picks
up one or the other and looks through
it with some interest. Then he started asking me about a Bible
for himself and I had a look through the bookshop
catalogues but thought it better to go and have a look myself so
today, the last day of the school holidays, we
undertook the hour-long journey into the city of Perth.
Upon arrival we located the children's Bibles and after a good
look selected two slightly different Bibles to suit the
different ages together with two carry cases. Discussing the
choices with the sales assistant confirmed our decision.
I had also decided to take the boys across the river and have
lunch by the river so we could see the city across
the water. All the way in the car my youngest read from the
first verse of Genesis for two chapters! I was quite moved.
After a leisurely lunch by the river we agreed to drive home and
for the early part of the journey he was continuing to
read from Genesis.
As I said to a Christian friend via email, "It was a great day!"
She agreed enthusiastically!
Now I will have to encourage both of them with children's
studies.
Praise God!
Phil.
