God created both unity and distinction, individuality and uniformity, and contrasts more complicated than what can be summed up into sound bytes. He created unity between Jew and Gentile by saying,
"There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female" (Gal 3:28)
but still shows a distinction by saying,
"I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile" (Romans 1:16)
Rarely do we see enough commentary going deep enough to explain what is "first" for the Jew. But occasionally we do. For example, Paul both asks and answers this question,
"What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God." (Rom 3:1-2)
and later,
"Theirs is the adoption to sonship; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. Theirs are the patriarchs" (Rom 9:4-5)
The same Paul who said there was neither "male nor female" also said the man is the head of the house. The Jew plays a role within the body of believers analogous to the "man" in a family, and Gentiles one analogous to the "woman".
Some of you have, particuarly those studying prophecy, have already figured out some of the advantages to being Jewish. There's no reason to expect Yeshua to come back according to the American calendar. January 1 is just another day to His time system. You know you have to study the Jewish calendar to have a basis God might work from.
And because the Law is a "shadow" of how the spiritual kingdom works, those who rehearse the Law can understand the laws of the spiritual kingdom better. Revelation is full of the symbols of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, etc., and those who have practiced those feasts will understand the prophecies much better. You can read about the feasts and learn it at one level, but practicing it helps you learn it at a deeper level.
The resurrection is called a "harvest" in Revelation. That means it will operate under the laws of the harvest as dictated by the Law of Moses, because the Law of Moses is a shadow. So if you want to learn the rules by which the Resurrection (or potentially rapture) will occur, then study the Laws of sowing and reaping that Moses wrote about. Better yet, do them. That's one where being Jewish only helps so much if you're not a farmer. But start a garden, farm like a Jew, and watch how much the SHADOW of what is to come will teach you about the coming harvest at the end of age! You will learn the spiritual laws the spiritual kingdom works under much better if you put them into practice in the natural realm. That is the whole reason God gave Israel "The Law". It was not so they could be bound by some impossible system that would torture them. It was so they could learn how the spiritual kingdom works much better. What you read about second hand, you mostly forget later. But what you DO, you remember forever.
Also, God never put a page between the "Old" Covenant and the "New" one, so as to divide it. A "Covenant" is a relationship, not a set of scrolls. and the writers of the "New" frequently quoted from the "Old" to prove their point, which they would not have done had God intended for that division to exist.
Shalom,
Joe
