Good letter David
I kind of have the same story
Yet in all my trouble God did give some supernatural signs of his protection. I think it was from my commitment to Him as a child
However I recall the night as a young teenager that I decided to turn away. I do believe if I died then it would not be good
He gave me a second chance
 
No one is expecting you to base your faith on a NDE or dream
But it can't be denied that God speaks that way
We really do need to pay attention to these subtle and not so subtle ways God speaks to everyone
 
Remember what God said to rich Lazarus as he was in hell
"Even if you return and warn them they will not believe"
I know his predicament very well
Like a man trying to warn people that the bridge is out ahead
Some don't believe, but some do
 
All I can say to anyone is, please do not ignore the warnings of the Lord to be prepared.
It is going to be very hard for those who don't listen, Christians included.
