Hi Patty,

This is a very interesting article. As I do check sources, however, you and other Doves should know this:

WHEN YOU SEE "COMMENT" AND "BY RVA", THESE ARE MY INSERTIONS.

Who is COGwriter?

COGwriter is Bob Thiel, Ph.D. I maintain a popular website at www.cogwriter.com that reports on news, prophecy, and doctrinal matters of interest to those who believe the Bible. I also function as the Pastor/Overseer for the Continuing Church of God.

What Does COGwriter Mean?

COGwriter is an abbreviation for Church of God (COG) writer. The term Church of God is used here to include those Sabbatarian (sabbath-keeping) churches that are faithful to apostolic Christianity (most generally, but not exclusively, those who came out of the pre-1986 Worldwide Church of God, and hold similar beliefs).

COMMENT: Herbet Armstrong (by RVA)

ALL DOVES HAD BETTER REACH A CONCLUSION ON THIS BEFORE EMBRACING THE TEACHING OF COGSWRITER!

After this thousand year reign, all who ever lived will be resurrected. When those resurrected see how humans started out with a very good and beautiful earth and messed up and nearly completely destroyed it in their 6,000 years, they will realize that humankind that distanced itself from the true God cannot properly govern itself.  However, when those resurrected see how when starting with a messed up and nearly completely destroyed earth at the end of the 6,000 years, that it was restored to being very good again because people obeyed the King of Kings, then nearly all who ever lived will repent of their ways, accept Jesus as the Christ, and will live God’s way of life.

COMMENT: To me, this spells "universalism". There is no way I can torture my Bible to this conclusion. by RVA

Since God is love, we in the Continuing Church of God believe that His plan will result in nearly everyone who ever lived, no matter what their religion or background was, to be saved (this is is similar to what the Eastern Orthodox believe).   And that there are hundreds of verses in the Bible that show this (documentation is in the article Universal Salvation? There Are Hundreds of Verses in the Bible Supporting the Doctrine of True Apocatastasis).

COMMENT: BEAR IN MIND THAT THE SPOKESMEN FOR BOTH THE WCG DERIVATIVE GROUPS AND THE SEVENTH DAY ADVENTISTS ARE MASSIVELY EDUCATED, ENORMOUSLY EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATORS AND PERSUADERS. A LISTENER OR READER MUST BE BIBLICALLY LITERATE, 100% ALERT AND VERY DISCERNING LEST HE BE DRAWN INTO BELIEVING WHAT HE SHOULD NOT BELIEVE.

I DO NOT CONDEMN EITHER GROUP. IN FACT, I FIND MUCH OF WHAT THEY PUBLISH INTERESTING (WRONG, BUT INTERESTING). AND THEY DO PROVIDE A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY TO EXERCISE SWORDPLAY. THEY ARE REFUTABLE, BUT IT TAKES A STRONG FAITH AND BIBLICAL UNDERPINNING.

THE ARTICLE ON THE PHARISEES IS QUITE GOOD. WHILE I HAVEN'T BEEN THROUGH IT IN DETAIL, DOUBLE CHECKING EVERY REFERENCE, TRIPLE CHECKING FOR CONTRADICTORY REFERENCES, ETC, I FIND NOTHING ON A FIRST READING THAT I WOULD DISAGREE WITH.

Maranatha,

Bob
