  as a retired cop, I have been watching this very closely for many years.  At the MOMENT.....enough angry americans have responded to force him to reconsider.  This will NOT go away, however.  America is one of the last places on earth where we are GUARUNTEED the right to keep and bear arms in order to protect ourself from a tyranical government!  While  this is a paraphrase....check your bill of rights and other founding documents...that is what it was put there FOR!!!  Of COURSE a government like we have now would want to end this ability....and we absolutely MUST NOT ALLOW IT!!!  As an aside, when the 'benificent Hillary' was running for commander- in -chief, she sent mailings out to NRA members stating that the policy she would persue, 'for our own safety', of course, was to have nationwide gun registration so that in the event of a terrorist THREAT to our country which elevated our threat color from green to yellow, orange, or red, weapons would be stored for 'safekeeping'.  They would be returned when the safety level color returned to green.  You all remember that ridiculous color system, don't you?  The biggest catches were: 1) How is taking weapons AWAY during a crisis supposed to keep anyone safer? (Ask the people in New Orleans about THAT one during Katrina!)  2)Our 'threat color' was raised when there was a threat to almost any other country in the world, just in case....and 3)Has our 'color' EVER been down to green....ever?  Since the whole stupid system started? EVER?  (Trick question...answer is NO!).  They truly believe we are all so dumb that we could actually fall for it!  However, I am sure it WILL be implemented when you-know-who is in charge of the world.  That being said, I take great pride in being a member of the one country who is so backward, obstinate, and pig-headed as to give the rest of the international communuty nightsweats!  In the comedy movie 'Stripes', they called americans a mass of the great unwashed, who have been kicked out of every 'decent country' in the world....HOORAY!!   There is nothing in the world like Americans...independent, free-thinking, strong, innovative, obstinate, immovable, unpredictable rascals!!!  What a great country!!  It makes me so proud!  May we always strive to be the bunch that gives 'em all fits!!!!   Tracy dee
