They're calling it a "land hurricane". It
had winds of up to 80 mph. It took out the power for
millions of residents. I was one of them. We were
without power for 72 hours. This is what I leanred.
Ice was gone in less than 12 hours. All generators were
gone. Gas was hard to obtain as the pumps required
electricity to work. Folks were purchasing everything they
could on batteries. One guy couldn't "live" without his
music, he said. He was purchasing a battery operated CD
boom box. All auto-cellphone chargers were gone. We
loss cell phone coverage as several towers stopped working (for
the first time in our area).
I met a middle eastern man pumping gas. He was frantic and
frightened. He kept calling it Doomsday. I suggested
that perhaps it was God's reaction to the Supreme Court
decision. He said, "Yes! God judges us!"
This storm was most unusual. Tremendous amounts of
lightning and high winds. It was quite sincerely,
unprecedented. The first day without power was strange as
I heard some peculiar sounds which lasted for a long time.
They were loud, somewhat booming, and didn't diminish for a long
time. The sky was clear at that time as the storm had
passed. We are in an uncommon heat wave.
Coincidences? I think not.
