Somehow he allowed the devil into his life. We do not know how, but possibly through occult involvement, drugs, or both.
Lesson:
"Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life" (Proverbs 4:23).
May God have mercy on his soul. God's mercy is greater than Holmes' sin. He is not beyond the reach of God's grace.
