Dear Doves,
From 7-20 through 7-23, 2012 we have witnessed many testimonials and remembrances, printed and spoken, about the 12 precious individuals killed at the Century Theater in Aurora, Colorado. There is a saddening spiritual consistency to the printed listings of the core accomplishments/values of those killed. Only one has been remembered as having any evidence of belief, faith, trust in Christ the Lord. This alone was Rebecca Ann Wingo, the mother of 2 dearly loved daughters. It was only on Monday that item number 4 was added to the previous list of 3 things related to her lifetime major accomplishments/values. First listed was her service in the Air Force. Second was her work as a fine translator of Mandarin Chinese. Third was her being a mother of 2 young daughters. What is curious is item 4 posted on Monday. "She was a member of a church." The name of her house of faith was not named. As far as I know, none of her church friends were interviewed. It reads like an odd statement, like a spiritual throwaway, of little value whatsoever..
Other than Veronica Ann Moser, a 6 year old child, the other 10 adults seemed to have no faith in Christ or any supreme being. For them was no mention of belief, spirituality, or religion. The name of Christ was conspicuous in its absence, from the 12 testimonials. Is it possible that Rebecca might have listed her relationship with Christ first on her list, as her eternal Redeemer and the Lord of her life? Would she have considered that far more important than her being a member of a church, any of the 4 things listed? I wonder. Were her core and major accomplishments/values listed in false order of priorities she held? Are some ASHAMED OF CHRIST AND HIS MESSAGE this week? Are some ashamed to name the name that Rebecca knew? She may have fervently prayed His name and asked and begged for the lives and the safety for her daughters as part of her final prayers. Her last thoughts may have been about Christ and her daughters, her beloved living legacies!
How far away is it spiritually from experiencing SHAME at the mention of His name and message, to embarrassed silence, to rejection? How close is persecution for His followers? "The Grand Climax" week for satanists is far along. How deep in faith is public acknowledgment of the Son of Man anywhere now?
Luke 9:26 states solemn warning from Christ, the Redeemer of humankind. He warned each and all. "If anyone is ashamed of me and my message, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in his glory and in the glory of the Father and his holy angels." I hope and pray that at least 2 individuals of the 12 will be publicly acknowledged as members of His Eternal Kingdom, Veronica Ann Moser and Rebecca Ann Wingo. May we continue to remember and pray for the relatives and friends of the 12. Come quickly, Lord...
With Love and Shalom,
Jean
