I want to encourage you with this observation about Jesus words to the Philadelphia Church:Revelation 3:8. I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. These words have always been of great comfort to me because Jesus is not rebuking here but acknowledging a reality that those that He is coming to redeem are not "superstars" of great name and obvious accomplishments apparent to the world or even necessarily other Christians. When you put it all together the scriptures describe an astonished left behind group who will look hard at the ones who were taken and wonder what was so special about them.Song of Solomon 6:13. Return, return, O Shulamite; return, return, that we may look upon thee. What will ye see in the Shulamite? as it were the company of two armies.Paul said we groan within our self desiring to be redeemed even as all creation also groans awaiting our adoption to be complete. Contrast this with Jesus' feelings toward the Laodicean Church that considers itself rich and increased with goods and having need of nothing etc. These Jesus spews out of His mouth, not the kind of reception they were expecting.Take comfort that you have not denied Jesus' name and have kept His word to save you and keep your focus there on Him and His promises and do not be discouraged by your own lack of strength for Jesus was not put off by that in us. Look up our redemption draws nigh!
