Here is my take on the Millennium:

As discussed in the study above, I believe that the purpose it two-fold:
 
1. To fulfill the promises God made to Abraham and his descendants of the inheritance of the land that has not been fully realized yet
 
2. To test mankind.  Adam and Eve blamed Satan for their temptation when they rebelled against God. During this 1000 year period, Satan will not be able to tempt or destroy. Neither will man be able to blame unbelievers for leading them down the wrong path, as God will have eradicated all unbelievers before the Millennium begins. Also, Jesus will be ruling on Earth in the flesh, so there will be no more foolish unbelief of God. It will be that either man will choose to follow God or they will follow their own rebellious heart.
