"Climate Change And Transition to Renewable Energy"

Hello John and Doves,

Mark Mills, Senior Fellow at the Manhattan Institute for Prager University, explains the world's energy and how solar and wind just won't cut it - now or in the future.  My notes and video below:

Oil, natural gas and coal provide 84% of all the world's energy - down 2% from 20 years ago, because of the addition of renewables.  Oil powers 97% of all global transportation.  This shows that we are NOT rapidly transitioning away from fossil fuels like we are being told.

Two decades and $5 trillion in government investing and we've barely transitioned to wind/solar.  To speed up the change over to renewable energy - we need to do more mining.  "To get the same amount of energy from solar and wind that we now get from fossil fuels we are going to have to massively increase mining.  By more than 1,000%....Copper, iron ore, silicon, nickel, chromium, zinc, cobalt, lithium, graphite, and rare earth metals like neodymium.  We need them all.  And then those metals and materials have to be turned into motors, turbine blades, solar panels, batteries and hundreds of other industrial components.  That also takes lots of energy, which requires even more mining.

As a World Bank study put it, these green "technologies...are in fact significantly more material intensive" than our current energy mix.  That may be "the understatement of the century":  "aw materials account for 50 - 70% of the costs to manufacture both solar panels and batteries.  Until now it hasn't really mattered that much because wind and solar still account for only a few percentage points of the global energy supply."

Where would these new mines be located:  China, for one - China is the "single largest source for most of our critical energy materials."  The U.S. is dependent on other countries for 100% of 17 critical minerals.  This would make us even more dependent on China.

Europe has depended on Russia for 40% of its natural gas...we saw how that's worked out for them.

"We have all the minerals we need right here in North America."   But in the U.S., new mining is routinely blocked - in 2022 the Biden Administration "canceled a proposed copper and nickel mine in northern Minnesota."  The environmentalists, green activists and politicians who are pushing electric cars on us are the same people who are making it impossible to manufacture these cars - by preventing us from mining the very minerals we need to manufacture electric cars.

"In America there are about 80 cars for every 100 citizens.  In most of the world, it's about five per 100 citizens.  Over 80% of air travel is for personal purposes.  That's two billion barrels of oil a year.  Hospitals use 250% more energy per square foot than an average commercial building.  And the global information infrastructure - the Cloud - already uses twice as much electricity as the entire country of Japan, the world's third-largest economy.  The massive data centers at the heart of the Cloud alone consume almost 10 times more electricity than the world's 10 million electric cars."

More energy will be required in the future for new innovations, increase in population, etc.  And we'll need fossil fuels, nuclear energy and renewables.

"But if you think we can get it all from wind and solar, dream on."

Biden et al are pushing their "100 percent carbon-free electric grid by 2035 spending billions of dollars on wind turbines, solar panels and battery storage."  The trillions Biden et al plan to spend on "climate change" agenda will basically, change nothing with the temperature of planet Earth.  (WEF/:Paris Climate agreement wants to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees C this century.)

"According to climate scientist Pat Michaels, even if the United States were wiped off the face of the planet tomorrow, it would only avert 0.052 degrees C by 2050 and 0.137 degrees by 2100, which is an amount so small that it is not even scientifically detectable."

Xcell Energy did a study that showed "electricity prices would exponentially increase the cost of electricity in the United States if the grid were to be powered by only wind turbines, solar panels and battery storage.  "If America were to try and use these three technologies to provide 100 percent of our electricity, the nation's annual electric bill would grow from - the $397 billion we had in 2019 - to $6.6 trillion dollars every single year, an annual increase of $6.2 trillion.  This is the equivalent of every man, woman, and child in the country paying an additional $19,000 per year for their electricity...."  and this does not include the cost of the electric lines, new transformers, distribution systems, etc...
Biden’s New Energy Plan Is Terrible - American Experiment

So far, Biden is OK with hydroelectric power (which generates about 6.7% of total U.S. electricity generation and 31% of U.S. renewable electricity) and nuclear power plants (which generates about 20% of the total U.S. electricity generation).

Natural gas produces about 38% of the U.S. electricity.  Coal produces about 22%.  Nuclear energy produces about 19% of the U.S. electricity.  Renewable energy sources produce about 20% of the U.S. electricity.  In 2021.  Of the renewable energy electricity - 9.2% is from wind and 2.8% from solar.  So wind and solar accounted for 12% of America's total electricity supply.

If Biden cuts natural gas and coal production of electricity - that's 60% of our electricity.  If he cuts nuclear and hydroelectric, that's another 26% gone..

So somehow, Biden would have to come up with another approximate 86% more electricity from solar and wind.  We certainly don't have the infrastructure now, nor do we have the $$ to build the infrastructure.

Thousands of new apartments have been built in my area of Colorado over the last several years.  Will each apartment have a plug in for an EV?  Transformers already in neighborhoods will need to be changed out to accommodate the extra pull on electricity for each home having one, two or more EVs.

"Tesla is asking its customers in Texas to avoid charging their electric vehicles during peak times in order to prevent overtaxing  the state's power grid...the Electric Reliability Council of Texas is calling on residents to conserve electricity during the recent heatwave, as the system is being pushed to near-emergency conditions." "This is the second time this year that Tesla have encouraged off-peak charging during a Texas heatwave."
Tesla asks Texans to avoid charging their EVs during peak times because of the heatwave

And so far the heatwave has resulted in "two energy conservation alerts in three days the week of July 11" - this shows "how susceptible the energy grid in the Lone Star State is to severe weather."  44% of the electricity in Texas comes from natural gas, 29% from wind, 12% from coal, 9% from solar, and 4% from nuclear.  If there is no sun or no wind - there goes almost 38% of their electricity.

I don't think anyone in the U.S. wants to face severe cold weather or a heatwave with the possibility of loosing their electricity sources.  But the way Biden et al are going..that's exactly what we will be facing - long blackouts, rolling brownouts - and that will be during mild summers and mild winters.  The transition to renewables will be very long and very painful for most people and once we get to renewables - blackouts and brownouts will be come place - there are just too many people demanding too much electricity - and Biden et al just can't stand that.

Biden has not yet declared a "climate change national emergency" - some Democrats, Republicans and activists are urging him to do this.  So far, Democrat Senator Joe Manchin has been able to block Biden's legislation for climate change but this has pushed Biden to the doorstep of a 'national emergency'.  A national emergency declaration would give the president powers he doesn't have now - like the ability to divert military construction fund to other projects - like renewable energy projects for military bases...he could restrict imports from countries with high carbon emissions or impose a carbon fee on goods from those countries or order companies to make solar panels and parts, insulation, other clean energy technologies, he could suspend oil and gas leases on federal lands and waters, he could limit oil exports to other countries.  "To date, courts have never overturned a presidential emergency declaration..."
Biden announces new climate change actions but holds an emergency declaration in reserve

This would also allow Biden to end offshore drilling or speeding the manufacturing of electric vehicles.

In fact, many are telling Biden to look at the record heatwaves going on now, the wildfires in the U.S. and the Colorado River drying up.  The time for no response or a mild response to the "climate crisis" is long past.
Declaring a climate emergency could unlock potent tools for Biden — at a steep cost - POLITICO

I doubt Biden would "limit oil exports to other countries":

If Biden goes this route, of declaring a "climate national emergency", he risks further driving gas prices and electricity rates up higher, and markets could react negatively.  Further exasperating Americans.

Biden et al want to STOP oil production in the U.S.  His energy advisor, Amoc Hochstein said we need to stop projects and limit oil usage to "accelerate the transition".
Biden Energy Advisor Acknowledges What's Really Driving the Admin's Plan for Oil And Gas – RedState

This transition is neither happening quickly nor is it inexpensive - they tell us sun and wind are free...but the solar panels, batteries, wires, turbines, blades, land, etc are not.  And this switch to solar/wind has been very slow and expensive.

So where is all of this push from fossil fuels to transition to renewables coming from?

"The WEF said that fighting "climate change" can save Democracy as long as consumers stop burning coal, oil, and gas in exchange for green renewables."

"To protect and promote freedom, "leading democracies must strengthen their economies and safeguard liberty."

What is there answer for the U.S. and Europe?  PRICING THE ALTERNATIVES TO GREEN ENERGY OUT OF THE MARKET.  This means driving up the prices of gasoline, natural gas, diesel, coal, etc.  Which is exactly what is happening in America now!

"First, leading democracies should agree to end the underpricing of fossil fuels, which is the principal factor preventing a clean energy transition."

"The leading democracies of the G20 should collectively commit to phasing out cost and tax breaks for the production and consumption of fossil fuels.  They should also phase in more efficient pricing of fossil fuels through taxes or tradable permits to cover the costs of local air pollution, global warming, and other economic damages.....compliance can and must be enforced."

The U.N. Chief, Antonio Guterres "issued a warning on Monday that the "madness" of embracing fossil fuels is threatening global climate targets."

"Some globalist agencies have already said walking rather than driving must be considered an alternative in times of fuel shortages."  "Countries must "accelerate the phase-out of coal and all fossil fuels", and implement a rapid and sustainable energy transition without delay."

Whether a country is ready or not - the "leading democracies" are to switch off of fossil fuels.  Period.

this would certainly explain Biden et al's "consideration" of declaring a "climate change national emergency".  The Supreme Court has tied his hands somewhat with its ruling on using the EPA to further regulate greenhouse gases.  Our climbing gasoline prices, our climbing electricity prices are not due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine or anything else - they are due to Biden et al push to end the use of fossil fuel...which will destroy this nation's economy.
Doc’s Prescription: Supreme Court limits EPA authority to restrict greenhouse gas emissions

Biden et al goal is to get to zero carbon emissions from power plants by 2035 and cut American emissions in half by 2100.  I think Biden et al are pushing to do all of this much faster...at the expense of our economy, our pocketbooks, etc.  But they don't care about the people...

This is all a planned, purposeful attack on our way of life, our livelihoods, or finances - to get us reduced to "You will own nothing and you will be happy."  Total control.

This is nothing short of destruction of America as we know it.

We will see if Biden declares a "national climate change emergency" or not...he can do this anytime...for now he's announcing a list of executive orders with more to come.   FEMA is to fund "cooling centers" for the excessive heatwaves (to help people maintain 'a healthy body temperature' - like libraries, malls, community centers)...offshore windmills to be setup in the Gulf of Mexico...Biden may make a big push on electric vehicles....

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
