Iran's leadership is 'Twelvers' - they believe in an end time apocalypse to bring in their world caliphate led by their Mahdi - the Twelfth Imam.

 

The Twelver Shi'ism faith is the basis of Iran's present-day Islamic Republic, which came into power in 1979.  Some 90 - 95 percent of today's more than 80 million Iranians are professing Twelvers.

 

Mahdism requires Iran's "adherents to take 'proactive' steps to help usher in the Mahdi - most notably by initiating an "apocalyptic" showdown with the "greater" and "lesser" satans, namely America and Israel."

 

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) "was mandated with an ideological mission of jihad in Allah's way."  The IRGC policy is to eradicate Israel and Zionism.  And "the existence of Israel is being viewed and understood as the 'greatest barrier' to the reappearance of the 12th Imam.  According to the doctrine of Mahdism, part of preparing for the reappearnce of the 12th Imam is removing all obstacles and barriers to his return."

 

"...Iran's hardline clergy affiliated with the IRGC claim religious hadiths state that the 'Jewish state will be destroyed before Mahdi's arrival."  The "ideological belief that the eradication of Israel is a necessary step for the reappearance of the 12th Imam is increasingly being mainstreamed in the IRGC."

 

Iran is getting more and more radical.  A paper published in 2022 states that "Even is a small number of devout Mahdists occupy senior positions in the Guard, it is possible that they may seek to facilitate and speed up the return of Mahdi.  This would have major implications for some of the policies that are being understood through the prism of Mahdism, such as Israel's existence being the 'greatest barrier' to the reappearance of the 12th Imam.  At present the doctrine of Mahdism in the IRGC remains a complete blind spot for Western policymakers, yet it could have major implications for the Islamic Republic's milititia network, ballistic missile program and even its nuclear program."

The above paper nailed it:  The West does not comprehend Mahdism nor do they understand Twelvers.  They do not understand Islam at all.  Mahdists have an assignment:  destroy the U.S. and Israel.  Then their Mahdi can return and set up their world caliphate.  Nothing will stand in their way of this.

 

Are we approaching the timing for their push to destroy Israel and usher in the 12th Imam?
