"Sunday School Lesson"
When I read a scriptural reference to
our need for patience, I am reminded of an incident that
occurred in my childhood at Sunday School.
A dozen of us children listened
intently to a story about a man walking his donkey. I
remember the teacher痴 every word.
Act One
Donkey: Water, Master,
Water.
Master: Patience,
Jackass, Patience.
Act Two
Donkey: Water, Master,
Water.
Master: Patience,
Jackass, Patience.
Act Four
Donkey: Water, Master,
Water.
Master: Patience,
Jackass, Patience.
Immediately I blurted out:
What happened to Act Three?
Of course, the teacher
retorted: Patience, Jackass, Patience!
Everyone laughed uproariously at
my humiliation, but I learned a valuable lesson.
