I agree with you, that the wise men came there when Jesus was born.

Matthew 2:1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

They saw the star two years earlier, in the east.

They didn't finally show up in Bethlehem, two years later, long after Joseph had gone back to Nazareth.        (Gino, you're debating, now)

Anyway, your poem focuses on the wonder of what happened, rather than any debates about it.
