"but at this very moment, there are those who do not have this hope of that heavenly calling"

(But at this very moment, there are those who do not have this hope of that heavenly calling:)

Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

John 5:40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

(What’s the best response?)

John 12:21b Sir, we would see Jesus.

(And what does Jesus say?)

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

(And to those of us not yet saved, if we hear his voice, we are to come to him, because he is calling us:)

John 10:3b  and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

(Jesus calls us first to repent:)

Luke 5:32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

(Then he calls us to believe his gospel, the good news:)

Hebrews 11:6b  for he that cometh to God must believe that he is,

I Corinthians 15:1a Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you,

  3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

(That is exactly what the Philippian jailer did, and he was saved, right then and there, and received eternal life:)

Acts 16:29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,

30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

(He not only calls us to be saved, but continually calls us, by invitation only, to closer fellowship, and to his glory:)

II Thessalonians 2:14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Mark 3:13 And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.

John 14:4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

(And it is the Father inviting us to come to his Son, Jesus:)

John 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

I Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

(The final and ultimate calling is to come to the Father, himself, but that is only through Jesus:)

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

(So, now, we have the wonderful privilege, to join in with the Holy Ghost, in order to invite others:)

Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
