This is my first time posting a video link, rather than writing an article but I thought it was a powerful message.
“The world is gonna burn! - A study of the Exodus plagues and a lesson in the normalcy bias”
A little background/context.
I have been doing a weekly zoom bible study with some friends for about 5 months now. We have been examining the weekly Torah portion and this week finds us in the plagues of Exodus. I had prepared to talk about the problem of the “normalcy bias” both in the church and in the world when something unexpectedly interrupted my sense of normalcy.
Four days prior to this video I was caught in a fire while working in my garage and got second degree burns on my hands and on my face - so I look a little strange! (Although I purposely kept my lighting dark so that helps)
With God’s healing mercy I’m sure I’ll be back to myself in a few weeks. But I realized that this awful thing that happened to me was in accordance with the teaching that I had prepared to give and it became a very powerful teaching I think.
Apologies for the video quality I have very poor internet currently where I live. The video cuts out from the 28:00 minute mark to around 29:45 so fast forward or just hang in there, it will come back!
