Revelation 8:12 And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.
   It says that these actual celestial bodies were smitten, rather than simply the air darkened, like with smoke (9:2). Did this last for only a single day or over a longer period of time? Was this experienced over the entire earth? By a third part, does that mean a certain # of hours, or does it mean the intensity reduced by a ⅓? Were the celestial bodies smitten by angels, considering how angels are the ones most involved in the seven trumpets?
