When John sees the great multitude of Gentiles "standing before the throne and before the Lamb " in heaven I believe he was seeing the raptured Church standing before the 'judgment seat of Christ' which is also known as the 'BEMA seat of Christ' in heaven according to :

2 Corinthians 5:10

"For we must ALL appear before the judgment of Christ, that everyone may receive the things done in his body according to that which he has done , whether it be good or bad."

I also believe that when we are told they are holding Palm branches in their hands we are given a hint that the rapture will occur on the 'Day of Palms' which is Nisan 10 four days before Passover.
