"Beyond human comprehension is the vastness of God's universe!"

I sent out an e-mail not long ago in which I referred to the vastness of God's universe.   I would like to elaborate just a little more on this topic.   I have always liked astronomy all the way back to being a little kid, which I was back in the 1950s, but without the mustache.

I will try to be brief.   If we were on a spaceship that could travel from the earth to the moon in 1.5 seconds (that is correct, 1.5 seconds!), at that speed it would take 4 years to reach the nearest star to earth, Alpha Centauri.   And at that same speed it would take around 100,000 years to travel the width of our Milky Way Galaxy.    There are around 1 billion stars in our galaxy, and just in the neighborhood of our little sun over 2000 planets have been found orbiting other stars.   These planets have just been discovered since the 1990's as man's technical knowledge has increased (Daniel 12:4 by the way tells us that man's knowledge will increase at the time of the end).

How many galaxies are there?   It has been estimated that if each galaxy was a pea, there are enough to fill Michigan's football stadium to the very top.   And each of these "peas" would still require around 100,000 years each to traverse them at a speed that would take one from the earth to the moon in 1.5 seconds!

Our sun is a very insignificant star in one of the outer bands of the Milky Way Galaxy, quite far from "downtown" or the center of the galaxy.   It would be a great idea for all of you to look up 1 Corinthians 2:9 in the New Testament.   This really says it all!

Now, can we be so very vain as to think that we are the only intelligent life in God's universe?   Again I refer you to 1 Corinthians 2:9 and I will throw in another verse----- Isaiah 40:22.   Take a very close look at the last line of that verse!   WOW!   That pretty much comes out and tells us that there is indeed other life out there!
Personally, I think God's universe might just be teeming with life!   And by the way, is there really "intelligent" life on earth?   Truly intelligent life would not engage in wars through its history to kill itself!   But that is a result of our sin nature, which requires redemption, and that happens ONLY through Israel's long rejected Messiah!

Well, that's "nuff for now",

Neil
