"DEFINITION OF 'ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION'"

ABOMINATION : a detestable thing in the sight of God

DESOLATION : destruction

Here is how I see it. First off, I believe that the 'abomination of desolation' is NOT the anti-Christ as most people believe it is. The 'abomination of desolation' is spoken of three times in Daniel ; the first time in  Dan 9:27, and then in Dan 11:31, and again in Dan 12;11 . Then it is also spoken of in both Matthew 24:15 and Mark 13:14 which BOTH refer back to Daniel.

Matthew says, "WHEN YOU SEE the abomination of desolation stand in the holy place"

Mark says, "WHEN YOU SEE the abomination of desolation standing where IT ought naught" ( notice that Mark refers to the 'abomination of desolation' as an "it", NOT as 'he' as one would refer to a man )

Luke does not directly refer to "it" as the 'abomination of desolation', but look at what Luke says about "it" :

Luke says, "WHEN YOU SEE Jerusalem surrounded by armies then know that its desolation is near"

The "holy place" spoken of in Matthew 24:15 is Jerusalem, God's holy city.

Mark says "where it ought not be" which is also Jerusalem.

Luke actually says, "Jerusalem", and identifies the 'abomination of desolation' as "armies" about to make desolate.

Jerusalem was once destroyed in 70 AD by the Army of Rome which was the 'abomination of desolation' at that time, and Jerusalem will again be destroyed by the Army of Gog-Magog which is the 'abomination of desolation' in the near future. There are two "abominations of desolation" spoken of in the Scriptures, and they are BOTH armies that make Jerusalem desolate.

THEREFORE the 'abomination of desolation' of Jerusalem is not the anti-Christ although he is an abomination in the sight of God when he appears on the scene according to Revelation 13:1-5 which will be the third and the last time Jerusalem is destroyed.

Come Lord Jesus.
