The people  that will be caught off guard while doing their merry making are those who pledged allegiance to the antichrist. They are enjoying the period of peace that the antichrist had established after defeating his enemies (the dummy antichrist mahdi), while the saints are continuously being hunted down, imprisoned, and killed. (Islam, Judaism, and Christianity are rooted to Abraham, they are all enemies of satan because of the covenant, and he destroys them by making them war with one another)

Remember that if the antichrist claims that he is the christ or god he claims to be, he has to play out the entire prophetic events in the bible to make him appear as the one he claims to be and to achieve the ultimate and grand deception not only to the unbelievers but also to the elect as what Jesus Christ claimed if this would be possible. Satan need to deceive the elect, God’s people, he is the destroyer, it takes a lot more effort for him to do it to the elect compared to the unbelievers. Satan’s goal is to mock God, and destroy anything that has to do with God.
