Loving the Lord means giving Him first place. It means nothing can stir our heartsas He does. We need to be on our guardagainst being overwhelmed by earth'sjoys and sorrows, by our work and activi-ties. When such things preoccupy us,Jesus no longer has first place in our livesand has to leave the innermost chamberof our heart, His chosen dwelling-place.Nothing that concerns, excites, or upsetsus should be allowed to penetrate intothat sanctuary where He lives and hasHis throne. Ultimately, nothing shoulddisquiet us because He who is our peaceis living in the deepest recesses of our heart.Every true bride of Jesus makes the inner-most chamber of her heart a sanctuary. She keeps it holy, for her greatest joy isHis promise to make His dwelling in thehearts of those who love Him. For bridalsouls, there is no greater fear than losingtheir first love by being absorbed with thejoys and troubles and the ups and downsof daily life. The bride of Jesus longs that nothingshould drive her Bridegroom from her heart. She knows that He requires of us totaldevotion. He will not share the throne ofour hearts with anyone or anything else.He will not have us dominated by troubles, cares, people, or the things of this world. This is why a bridal soul wholeheartedlyresists all such influences that mighttake control of her. He alone is to reign inher. His indwelling is her greatest joy andhappiness.(excerpt #1 from ch 16 - My All)JAN J
