Why America peaked in the 50's

Ah, the 50's.  It is where the fondest of my memories exist.  What a wonderful
time to have grown up. All the "moms" at home (where they belong) all the dads
had a job and the family was the foundational unit of our society. Home ownership
was the goal of most every young married couple and the value of one's labor made
that possible. A "nickel" was something worth carrying around in your pocket and
had a bearing on how your day was going to unfold.  The boundaries were set and
understood by all and were of a Christian nature and not exclusionary in any sense.
Of course there were prejudices, but they were mostly ameliorated by humor and parodies that ran their course till the newcomers blended in and the next "new"  
people took their place and endured their process of being accepted as Americans.
People weren't offended by the truth and if you were, you were labeled as an A-hole
and were responsible for your own slower than normal assimilation. Believe it or not
most incoming immigrants showed up on our shores holding very conservative views coming from the socialist/communist oppressions of their former countries.
They were well aware of, and appreciative of what America was all about and the
opportunities she was offering them. I was a witness to this attitude in many cases
personally. If, in conversation, America was criticized by some folks for something
they didn't like about some new legislation or policy...the Gov. was defended by the
"New" arrivals by comparing it to where they came from. And they weren't shy about it.  They were in love with America from the get go and wouldn't
tolerate any disparaging remarks directed towards her. Yep, that was the 50's !
We won't, as a society, experience anything remotely like that again until the LORD
comes back and the Millennium begins.  Can't hardly wait !   
        We were "happy" as a nation on the whole and satan wasn't going to let that
continue, so he started whispering in Eve's ear again. "You can be so much more
than just a housewife, there's a whole big world out there just waiting for you to
take your share".  "Here's a little pill that will enable you get there".  "I'll even go a
step further on your behalf and destroy the value of the currency, thereby making it
necessary for you to leave home and join the work force". "This way you won't be
considered the weaker sex anymore and have an EQUAL say in  all things". "Won't
that be nice"?.......and as a result, here we are today!  I bewail my beloved America
that once was and look forward to Christ's return and restoration of all things, knowing
that HE also remembers the 50's........
